Role/Department:

The Senior Analyst is part of a global team responsible for ensuring the bank adheres to all sanctions, laws and regulations imposed by the United States Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) and other sanctions programs, including but not limited to, the Council of the European Union and the Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation in the UK.

The team works collaboratively to effectively identify and mitigate potential sanctions risk and to communicate sanctions program updates and guidance to relevant stakeholders. The ideal candidate should possess strong analytical and problem solving skills and be comfortable with minimal formal structure and changing environments. This role will appeal to those wishing to move into the compliance domain.

The key responsibilities of the role include:
  • Reviews and assesses escalated sanction wire transactions that alert from the sanction screening systems to determine if they are permissible under Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC) and/or any other applicable jurisdictional Sanctions program.
  • Conduct quality control of areas performing sanction screening, to assure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and adherence to internal policies/procedures.
  • Advises business partners on the Sanctions Compliance Program and applicable laws, regulations, rules and standards, including keeping them informed of developments or changes that may affect their area.
  • Identifies any compliance Sanction Risks associated with the Company’s activities.
  • Collaborates on projects with team members, exhibiting ongoing learning and basic project management skills.
  • Consults with management regarding more complex or sensitive investigations.
  • Operates independently; has in-depth knowledge of financial crimes; and carries out activities that are large in scope, cross-functional and technically difficult
