Job summary

PTSB seeks a Senior AI Risk Manager within the Financial and Model Risk team to lead governance and oversight of models and AI systems, ensuring safe, compliant adoption across the bank. The role holder will lead a team of highly skilled individuals and act as the Bank's centre of expertise for AI Risk management.

You will oversee the Bank's model & AI register, establish validation and risk assessment standards, provide independent challenge on material AI initiatives, and represent AI Risk

Qualifications

• 5+ years in a management role within financial services and/or technology.
• Experience designing, implementing and maintaining governance frameworks and risk standards.
• Strong understanding of machine learning, Generative AI and AI governance.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and enhancement of the Bank's Model & AI Risk Framework and standards.
• Design and implement the model and AI governance operating model.
• Develop methodologies for model and AI risk classification, validation and monitoring.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory obligations including the EU AI Act.
• Maintain an effective AI risk management environment across the Bank.
• Lead and develop a high-performing AI Risk and Validation team.

Job description

As the Senior AI Risk Manager within the Financial and Model Risk team, you will lead the governance and oversight activities of models & AI systems, ensuring the safe, responsible and compliant adoption of AI across the organisation. The role holder will lead a team of highly skilled individuals and act as the Bank's centre of expertise for AI Risk management. You will oversee the Bank's model & AI register, establish validation and risk assessment standards, provide independent challenge on material AI initiatives, and represent AI Risk across governance forums, strategic programmes, regulatory engagements and audit reviews. The role holder will report to the Head of Financial and Model Risk.

Functional Strategy & Delivery

• Lead the development and continuous enhancement of the Bank's Model & AI Risk Framework, Policy, Guidelines and supporting Standards and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulatory obligations.
• Support the design and implementation of the Bank's model and AI governance operating model.
• Develop and maintain methodologies for model & AI system classification, risk assessment, validation and ongoing monitoring.

Risk Management & Control

• Ensure that compliance with relevant regulatory obligations relating to model and AI risk e.g. EU AI Act is appropriately monitored through effective governance, assurance, reporting and control activities.
• Maintain an effective AI risk management and control environment that supports the responsible adoption of AI across the Bank.
• Provide independent challenge on AI systems, governance arrangements, risk assessments and control effectiveness.

Lead an inspiring Culture

• Lead and develop a high-performing team of AI Risk and Validation professionals.
• Foster and promote the embedding of a strong culture of independent challenge, risk awareness, technical excellence and continuous improvement.

Stakeholder Engagement

• Act as the Bank's primary subject matter expert for AI risk management and AI governance.
• Represent Financial and Model Risk at governance committees, strategic initiatives and cross-functional forums.
• Engage with business, technology, compliance, legal and risk stakeholders to support effective implementation of AI governance requirements.

Essential Requirements

• At least 5 years' experience in a management role within financial services and/or technology companies.
• Demonstrated experience designing, implementing and maintaining governance frameworks, policies and risk management standards.
• Strong understanding of machine learning, Generative AI, model risk management and AI governance principles.
