Job summary

Brightwater Recruitment is partnering with a Dublin-based bank to hire a Senior AI Engineer. You will design, build and operate production-grade agentic AI systems with strong Python skills for business-critical workflows within a regulated environment.

You will lead RAG pipelines, context management, and multi-step AI workflows, integrating via REST APIs and asynchronous messaging, while ensuring reliability, scalability and observability in production. This role is hybrid in Dublin.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' experience as a software engineer with Python in production systems.
• Hands-on experience developing agentic AI or AI workflow systems such as LangGraph or equivalent.
• Strong understanding of context management in multi-step AI workflows.
• Knowledge of MCP-style tool protocols and integrating AI agents with external tools.
• Experience designing RAG architectures including embeddings, retrieval strategies, and context management.
• Familiarity with vector databases/vector stores and asynchronous messaging (pub/sub, events, queues).
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases in enterprise environments.
• Experience deploying AI/ML systems with monitoring, observability and reliability requirements.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and operate production-grade agentic AI systems using Python.
• Build agent workflows using LangGraph or similar orchestration framework.
• Design and implement context management across long-running AI executions.
• Develop and maintain RAG pipelines using structured, semi-structured and unstructured data.
• Integrate AI systems with enterprise platforms via REST APIs and event-driven architectures.
• Create orchestration patterns for agents, tools and workflows, including synchronous and asynchronous execution.
• Incorporate human-in-the-loop processes, error handling and recovery mechanisms.
• Contribute to architecture standards for reliable AI at scale and address failure modes.
