Job summary

Dublin Port Company is seeking a Health and Safety Officer to join our Programme Management Office on a 3-year fixed-term contract. You will influence safety performance, lead audits and inspections, and collaborate with contractors and project teams to uphold the highest safety and welfare standards.

Key tasks include safety leadership, expert advice on Health, Safety and Welfare, and developing policies and procedures aligned with the PMO requirements.

Qualifications

• A minimum NFQ Level 8 diploma in Health & Safety.
• Member of IOSH.
• Knowledge of Safety, Health and Welfare legislation.
• Experience with Heavy Civil Engineering projects.
• Strong belief in the value of safety.
• Proficient with Safety Management Systems.
• Excellent IT skills (Office 365).

Responsibilities

• Act as a Safety Leader to support the PMO's safe delivery of work.
• Provide expert advice to staff and contractors on Health, Safety and Welfare.
• Develop relationships with stakeholders to implement best-practice solutions.
• Develop and influence safety policies, procedures, and guides.
• Deliver the safety management system audit and inspection program.
• Identify safety improvement opportunities and support implementation.
• Mentor and coach contractor staff to PMO safety requirements.
• Attend site meetings to ensure high-risk activities are properly controlled.
• Review RAMS and contractor documentation for adequate controls.
