Job summary

Job description

Role holders at this level are concerned with assisting an individual research leader or team to conduct a particular study (or group of studies). They will generally be involved in equipment operation and in data generation and/or collection using standard, well-defined methods developed by others. They will be working under close supervision by, and direction from, a more senior researcher or member of academic staff, who will be ultimately responsible for the project. .

The role is for a driven and dedicated individual with an interest in biochemistry, anaerobic digestion, enzymatic digestion, extraction and purification techniques, with analysis of organic compounds and their mixtures, working as part of a multidisciplinary research team undertaking an industrial collaborative research project funded by the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM). CirCoVal is a unique project working in a strategic area for the Irish Government: circular bioeconomy and zero-waste production. A portion of their time will be spent on-site at the Irish Bioeconomy Foundation Demonstration facilities at the Former Lisheen Zinc mines, Co Tipperary; therefore, an industrial-level experience in any of the project’s areas is desirable.

They will be required to present data-supported conclusions in writing and oral presentations, and maintain detailed and complete laboratory notebooks. The candidate will be required to act in accordance with the TUS and the Project’s Memorandum of Understanding governing the management of confidential information.
