Job summary

Veolia Ireland is seeking a Refrigeration Technician in Blanchardstown to provide maintenance, service, and technical support for HVAC and refrigeration systems on a 24/7 shift cycle.

The role includes diagnosing faults, replacing components, commissioning, and ensuring energy performance while adhering to safety regulations; experience with industrial cooling is required and ammonia systems are desirable.

Qualifications

• Relevant refrigeration qualification (e.g., F-Gas Category 1 or equivalent).
• Trade qualified with strong HVAC/industrial cooling experience.
• Minimum 3 years' hands-on experience in service/maintenance/commissioning.
• Solid understanding of HVAC engineering and system controls.
• Experience diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and control faults.
• ATEX areas experience is desirable.
• Experience with ammonia refrigeration systems is desirable.

Job description

Refrigeration Technician

Location: Blanchardstown, Dublin

Duration: Permanent

Hours: Shift Role

This is a shift role, working on a 24/7 4 shift cycle

Day-to-Day of the Role:

• Provide high-quality service, maintenance, and technical support for HVAC systems, including AHUs, chillers, heat pumps, dehumidification systems, ventilation plant, and associated mechanical equipment, in line with industry standards and safety regulations.
• Diagnose mechanical and control-system faults, carrying out corrective actions, component replacements, and adjustments to restore system performance and efficiency.
• Recommend suitable replacement parts, upgrade options, and refurbishment solutions to support long-term asset reliability and energy performance.
• Responsibility for the maintenance, repair, and commissioning of the full range of HVAC and Refrigeration equipment.
• Ensure that all customer facilities and services are made available within the requirements of the contract specification, and ensure assets are operating effectively.

Skills & Qualifications Required for the role;

• Relevant refrigeration qualification (e.g., F-Gas Category 1 or equivalent)
• Trade Qualified
• Strong technical background in commercial or industrial cooling systems
• Minimum 3 years' hands-on experience working with HVAC or mechanical building services systems in a service, maintenance, or commissioning capacity (essential).
• Solid understanding of HVAC engineering, including air handling, ventilation, dehumidification, heat transfer, and system controls.
• Proven ability to diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and control-related faults.
• Competent in the use of diagnostic instruments for airflow, pressure, moisture content, temperature, and system performance measurement.
• Experience working on Industrial refrigeration systems such as stand alone Fridge / Freezers, Incubators, Stability Chambers, and blast freezers
• Working in ATEX areas (desirable)
• Previous experience of API pharmaceutical Industry (desirable)
• Previous experience working on Ammonia refrigeration systems (desirable)
