Job summary

Virtu Financial is seeking an ETF Trading desk Trader in Ireland. You will handle risk management, strategy configuration and implementation, and primary market trading across electronic venues and RFQ platforms to support liquidity and revenue.

The ideal candidate has 2–5 years in trading support or a similar role, a quantitative academic background, bond experience, ETF knowledge a plus, and strong Python/SQL skills.

THE ROLE

We're looking for an eager, detail-oriented professional to join as a Trader supporting our ETF Trading desk. The candidate will be responsible for risk management, strategy configuration and implementation and primary market trading. The traders work closely with operations, compliance, brokers and custodians to mitigate risk and generate revenue for the firm. Our traders design, operate, and improve high‑performance algorithmic trading strategies deployed on both electronic trading venues and RFQ trading platforms around the world. Our ETF traders also build and manage relationships with issuers and other trading partners. This team has the opportunity to work closely with software engineers to enhance and further develop the firm’s trading strategies. Virtu Financial is a well-established market maker in the ETF space in Europe. We are looking to significantly expand our current product offering to cover all underlying asset classes.

THE CANDIDATE:

• 2-5 years of experience working in a trading support role, or in a comparable role at trading firm or financial institution.
• Excellent academic background. All majors welcome but ones with a quantitative lean preferred (computer science, math, sciences, economics and related fields).
• Bond experience required; knowledge and experience pricing, settling, clearing Fixed Income beneficial. ETF knowledge a plus.
• Strong ability to communicate information confidently and with agility to both clients and to colleagues internally.
• Technical proficiency - SQL and Python are used by most Traders at Virtu to work more efficiently. Prior experience in these or other programming languages are required.
• A "physicalizer"; a person who identifies issues and creates solutions without rigid direction or fanfare
• Highly motivated and tenacious individual, with a proven ability to take initiative and work independently and within a team
• Team player: authentic, genuine person who is capable of working collective goals.
