Job description

Overview

At Susquehanna, we’ve always thrived on staying ahead of the market. While speed and complexity defined the past, today data is the frontier for unlocking trading edge. Our European Quantitative Engineering and Data (QED) group is expanding rapidly, creating powerful algorithms, datasets, and platforms that fuel revenue generation.

Based in Dublin and collaborating with teams in London and across the globe, we work at the intersection of Engineering, Operations, and Research. We’re building scalable, high-performance systems that transform how traders and researchers use data — and we’re looking for passionate engineers to join us.

The Role

As a Quantitative Data Operations Engineer, you’ll be at the centre of our trading and research ecosystem. You’ll partner directly with traders, researchers, and engineers to ensure that operation of our data platforms meets the business needs.

This isn’t a passive support role — you’ll spend a significant portion of your time writing production scripts and code a well as wrangling our systems to produce the data we need for trading and research. We don’t pretend our systems are perfect, in fact when you are at the bleeding edge the one constant is change and unplanned work. You will need to be able to navigate this ambiguity and feedback to engineers your insights into how our platforms can evolve.

What You’ll Do
  • Operate critical research data systems used daily by traders and quants (Airflow and proprietary data systems).
  • Monitor data systems in US and EMEA ensuring business readiness as part of our follow-the-sun support model.
  • Orchestrate data pipelines & dependencies e.g. compute cluster, storage, config, data locality.
  • Be the first point of contact for researchers and traders — helping to remove blockers and accelerate the business.
  • Participate in a daily rota in a rolling early and late shift pattern, and an on-call rota.
  • Use AI and agents to remove toil that frees up time for system improvements.
  • Champion best practices, ensuring changes are reliable, performant, and globally consistent.
  • Lead incident post-mortems and follow up on learnings.
What we’re looking for
  • A degree in a STEM discipline.
  • Scripting skills in Python and bash.
  • Experience with orchestration tools such as Airflow is a plus.
  • Comfort working in a Linux environment.
  • Strong problem-solving mindset with a drive to unblock peers and improve systems.
  • Ability to balance short-term demands with long-term architecture improvements.
  • Collaborative, communicative, and detail-oriented.
  • Interest in quantitative trading and financial markets.
Why Join Us?
  • Impact at scale: Your code will directly support trading and research across global markets.
  • Growth & learning: Gain deep exposure to trading, quantitative research, and large-scale data engineering.
  • Cutting-edge challenges: Work on high-performance, big data systems in a mission-critical environment.
  • Collaborative culture: Partner with world-class quants, traders, and engineers.
  • Career acceleration: This is a high-visibility role at the heart of a rapidly expanding team.
