Job summary

Careerwise Recruitment is representing a client in Cork seeking a Quality Engineer for a permanent, site-based role in electronics manufacturing and design. You will support continuous improvement of quality systems and ensure compliance with customer requirements.

You will lead APQP activities (AS9145), FMEA, control plans, MSA, PPAP, and 8D investigations, while collaborating with production, engineering and suppliers to resolve quality issues on the shop floor.

Qualifications

• Honours Bachelor Degree / Level 8 in engineering or science.
• Experience as a quality engineer in electronics manufacturing is advantageous.
• Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001, EN/AS9100, IPC-WHMA-A-620, IPC-A-610, and J-STD-001 is a plus.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Support continuous improvement of quality systems and processes.
• Review customer requirements and ensure compliance to quality requirements.
• Review and approve Engineering Change Requests.
• Lead AS9145 (APQP) activities: PFMEA, control plans, MSA, PPAP, FAI.
• Lead 8D investigations and report outcomes to customers.
• Monitor production yields and drive Lean/Six Sigma improvements.
• Collaborate with production, engineering and projects to resolve quality issues.
• Provide technical quality support to supplier quality, inspectors, and floor staff.

Job description

A Quality Engineer is required to join our client's team at their electronics manufacturing and design facility in Cork. Permanent site-based role.

Role

• Support Continuous Improvement of Quality & Quality Systems.
• Review of customer requirements, identification and ensuring compliance to quality related requirement.
• Review and approval of Engineering Change Requests.
• Lead and support AS9145 (APQP) activities like Product Specific Quality Plans, FMEA, Control plans, MSA, First Article Inspection Reports and PPAP.
• Lead and support 8D investigations of customer claims, provide reports and communication with customers as required.
• Monitoring production quality yields and drive improvements by using Lean and Six Sigma methods - such as 5 Whys, FMEA, 8D to create robust permanent corrective actions.
• Collaborate with production, engineering and project teams to resolve quality issues.
• Provide technical quality support to supplier quality engineering and quality inspectors in incoming inspection.
• Provide technical quality support to quality inspectors and quality technicians on the production floor.

Requirements

• Honours Bachelor Degree / Level 8 qualification in relevant engineering or science discipline.
• Working experience as a quality engineer within an electronics manufacturing environment is an advantage.
• Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certified.
• Good knowledge of industry standards, such as ISO 9001, EN/AS9100, IPC-WHMA-A-620, IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 is an advantage.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Good knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Sampling Plans, Statistics, PFMEA and 8D Problem-Solving.
