Job summary

Russell Tobin is seeking an experienced QC Microbiology Specialist for a leading pharmaceutical manufacturing site in Athlone, Ireland. This role supports sterile manufacturing through environmental monitoring, microbial testing, validation activities, and sterility assurance to uphold GMP standards and product quality.

Qualifications

• Degree in Microbiology or life sciences.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in a cGMP QC Microbiology laboratory.
• At least 2 years' experience within the pharmaceutical industry.
• Hands-on microbiological testing in sterile manufacturing environments.
• Experience with environmental monitoring and utility testing.
• Strong understanding of sterility assurance principles and GMP regulations.
• Experience with method validation and quality risk management.
• Excellent attention to detail, documentation, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform environmental monitoring of cleanroom manufacturing areas.
• Conduct water, utility, and microbial testing, including endotoxin and other assays.
• Execute process and method validation protocols.
• Support laboratory investigations and root cause analysis using structured problem-solving techniques.
• Review laboratory data and GMP documentation.
• Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure GMP compliance.
• Develop and support laboratory procedures and site documentation.
• Deliver sterility assurance and microbiology awareness training.
• Participate in media fill studies to support sterile manufacturing qualification.
• Escalate quality, safety, or compliance risks as appropriate.
