Purpose of Role

The Quality Assurance Lead is responsible for safeguarding product quality throughout the development lifecycle. This role defines and enforces a comprehensive testing strategy, ensuring that both functional and non-functional requirements are met. Beyond manual testing, the Quality Assurance Lead designs and builds scalable automation frameworks that integrate with CI/CD pipelines, enabling efficient and reliable test execution. By maintaining rigorous standards and validating every release, QA ensures that products meet agreed quality benchmarks before going live, reducing risk and enhancing customer satisfaction.

This position is an initial 12 month FTC.

Key Responsibilities
Test Strategy & Planning
  • Define and implement a comprehensive testing approach across unit, integration, system, regression, and UAT phases.
  • Develop detailed test plans for features, releases, and projects.
  • Maintain and update regression test suites to ensure coverage aligns with ongoing development.
Automation Ownership
  • Select, implement, and maintain robust test automation frameworks.
  • Build and optimize CI/CD test pipelines for continuous quality assurance.
  • Ensure automated tests execute successfully on every build.
Hands‑On Testing
  • Conduct manual exploratory testing where automation is not feasible.
  • Perform performance, load, and security testing as required.
  • Triage defects and collaborate with developers to resolve issues promptly.
Process Integration
  • Partner with Product Owners to define clear acceptance criteria.
  • Embed testing practices into agile ceremonies, including refinement, planning, and reviews.
  • Act as the gatekeeper for “ready‑to‑release” sign‑off.
Developer Enablement
  • Mentor developers on writing effective unit and integration tests.
  • Advocate for TDD/BDD practices within the team.
  • Collaborate with the Engineering Manager to establish coding and testing standards.
Metrics & Reporting
  • Track and analyze key quality metrics such as defect density, escaped defects, test coverage, and automation pass rates.
  • Provide regular quality trend reports to the Engineering Manager and CTO.
KPIs
  • Automation coverage percentage (unit + regression).
  • Defect escape rate (bugs found post‑release).
  • Time to detect and resolve critical defects.
  • Build pass rate.
Skills & Experience
  • Strong background in software testing and QA automation.
  • In‑depth knowledge of agile testing practices and methodologies.
  • Proven ability to design and develop robust automation frameworks beyond manual test scripting.
  • Strong project management skills.
Compensation and Benefits
  • Salary circa €65,000 - €75,000
  • This is a hybrid role based from our Dublin Office with occasional business travel.
