Job summary

Merck & Co., Inc. in Dublin is seeking an experienced Project Manager for the PMO to lead and govern project delivery and risk management on site.

The role focuses on managing a diverse project portfolio including process improvement, new system delivery and NPI with senior stakeholders. The candidate will apply Waterfall, Agile or Scrum as appropriate, drive standard PM practices, and coach teams to improve performance, while working in a flexible hybrid environment that supports collaboration

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in a relevant field such as Project Management, Operations Management, Engineering or Science.
• PMP certification desirable.
• 8 years industry experience with at least 4 years in a PM role.
• Experience with project execution methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, Scrum).
• Proficiency in project management tools / software.
• Experience leading cross-functional project teams.
• Experience in Vaccines/Biologics or Sterile pharm manufacturing environment.
• Experience in operational excellence methodologies (Kaizen, Problem Solving, Value Stream Mapping).

Responsibilities

• Lead or support rapid improvement projects applying appropriate methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, Scrum).
• Collaborate with sponsors to define project scope.

• Benchmark portfolio governance against global best practices.
• Teach and coach to transfer PM skills to the organization.

Job description

A new opportunity has arisen for an experienced Project Manager to join the PMO (Project Management Office) of our Biotech Dublin site. The role is of key importance to the PMO and risk management team at our facility. As part of our company's manufacturing network, the Biotech Dublin team manufacture, test and release critical biologics products used globally in lifesaving medicines. To support excellence in project delivery, the site is supported by a local PMO (Project Management Office) team responsible for both leading and governing cross-functional projects on site. The Project Manager, PMO will become a key member of the local PMO team and provide on-site support for both the utilisation and development of project management and risk management processes on site.

Responsibilities:

• Project management of selected projects within the site's project portfolio, potential projects could include process improvement, new system delivery and NPI (New Product Introduction) projects
• Lead / Support rapid improvement projects through the application of the most appropriate project execution methodology for the given business challenge (Waterfall, Agile, Scrum, etc)
• Work with project sponsors at initiation to ensure the project scope is fully defined and understood
• Lead project management best practice by partnering with cross functional teams to ensure project execution is to plan
• Resolve issues and elevate risks in a timely fashion to the relevant on-site and above-site stakeholders
• Lead / Support monthly governance cycles including preparation of presentation material and chairing of site Portfolio Governance and Risk Council meetings
• Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of standardised and robust project management and risk management processes on site
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of portfolio governance on site and benchmark against global best practices across all industries
• Provide teaching and coaching to effectively transfer project management skills into the organization for the development of Project Leads on site

What skills you will need:

• Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Project Management, Operations Management, Engineering, Science or related field
• Project management qualifications (e.g. PMP certification) desirable
• 8 years industry experience with at least 4 of those years working in a project management role
• Experienced in the application of project execution methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, Scrum, etc.)
• Proficiency in the use of project management tools / software
• Experienced in leading cross functional project teams
• Experience in a Vaccines, Biologics or Sterile pharmaceutical manufacturing environment
• Experience in operational excellence methodologies (Kaizen, Scientific Problem Solving, Value Stream Mapping, etc.)
• Highly motivated, self-starter with the ability to work across all levels and functions to deliver on business priorities
• Ability to set clear objectives, overcome obstacles and be accountable for achieving results
