Job summary

Veolia Ireland is seeking a Project Manager (Engineering) to lead design coordination on Water and Wastewater projects across Ireland. The role focuses on PCI/PDI stages within the ECI framework, ensuring contract compliance and timely delivery.

Based in Athlone, you will coordinate with design teams, clients and H&S to deliver safe, on-budget outcomes while maintaining strong stakeholder relationships; a background in M&E or Civil is essential.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years post-qualification experience in M&E or Civil engineering.
  • Engineering degree or higher (Dip/ Degree/ Masters).
  • Proficient in MS Project and project tools.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Self-motivated with good communication abilities.
  • Willingness to work on Water/Wastewater projects across Ireland.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure thorough knowledge and understanding of the contract for all assigned projects
  • Coordinate Design activities/outputs across Water or Wastewater PCI and PDI
  • Act as main point of contact for project portfolio issues
  • Work with client, technical assurance, employers representative and operations to deliver scope
  • Provide timely updates on design outputs, procurement, cost, and variations
  • Track scope performers against baseline to manage delays
  • Administer documentation via BIM 360 and approved workflows
  • Monitor and control the project and adherence to the programme
  • Manage the procurement sheet
  • Identify risks to design activities and notify client for warnings/claims
  • Identify opportunities and drive improvements in design process
  • Liaise with Programme Manager, Designers, Drafting team and H&S Manager
  • Ensure H&S requirements are satisfied
  • Collaborate to motivate and align outputs

Project Manager (Engineering)

Location: Athlone WTP, Co. Westmeath

Contract Type: Permanent

Work Shift: Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5.30pm

Overview of the role

We have a talented diverse team of approx. 200 people and are rapidly expanding our workforce to meet our ambitious growth plans.

Due to continued success and growth across the Water division, we are looking for an enthusiastic and hardworking individual to join the ECI (Early Contractor Involvement) Team as a Project Manager(Design Coordination). The successful candidate will work on a wide scope of Water and Wastewater Treatment projects across the Island of Ireland.

The Early Contractor Involvement is a new form of delivery for Water Infrastructure made up of two stages - Project Commencement Instruction (PCI) and Project Delivery Instruction (PDI). PCI is the early design from environmental, planning and detailed design with the aim being to agree a project scope and target cost. PDI stage is the delivery of the agreed scope to the target cost with a pain/gain share mechanism. All with focus on safely delivering first‑class projects on time, & within budget whilst maintaining a strong working relationship with the wider ECI team.

Duties of the Role include
  • Ensure thorough knowledge and understanding of the contract for all assigned projects
  • Coordination of Design activities/outputs on a variety of projects across Water or Wastewater PCI and PDI
  • Act as the main point of contact for dealing with any issues relating to your project portfolio
  • Work collaboratively within the ECI structure with the client, technical assurance, employers representative and operations to deliver project scope
  • Linking with senior management to provide timely updates on the progress of design outputs/deliverables relating to each project to assess the effect to workshop dates procurement, cost, forecast and variations
  • Commitment to be obtained from the scope performers and tracked against baseline to allow delays to be managed and opportunities to be maximised
  • Ensuring all necessary documentation is administered via the approved systems (eg BIM 360, process workflows).
  • Monitor and control of the project and adherence to the project programme
  • Management of the procurement sheet.
  • Identify risks to Design activities/outputs and provide notification to the client, to allow preparation of early warnings, claims, variations and final cost cap agreement
  • Identify and manage opportunities and influence positive change and improvements in the design process and wider team.
  • Liaise with the project team, including Programme Manager, Designers, Drafting team and H&S Manager, to ensure that all H&S requirements are satisfied.
  • Collaborate with the Project Team to ensure that they are motivated and fully understand the extent and timeline for their outputs.
Required skills for this role
  • 5 + years relevant post qualification experience in the execution of M&E or Civil engineering projects
  • Diploma/Degree/Masters level in a relevant Engineering discipline or appropriate experience (Mechanical, Civil, Process, Chemical etc)
  • Strong IT skills including MS Project
  • Good organisational and time management skills
  • Self motivated
  • Strong communication skills
