Job summary

Turner & Townsend is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead complex construction and infrastructure programmes, from planning through commissioning, in a live airport context.

You will ensure delivery to time, budget and specification, coordinating across design teams, client stakeholders and external partners in a challenging environment. This is a full-time role with substantial career development opportunities and a strong benefits package.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years experience in Construction/Infrastructure.
  • Understanding of operating in a live airport site.
  • Experience on site, not just office-based.
  • Proven track record delivering projects on time and within budget.
  • Knowledge of operating as a client’s project manager.
  • Experience dealing with stakeholders at all levels across the organisation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the coordination of the project ensuring interfaces are addressed at all stages of the lifecycle.
  • Maintain the Responsible/Accountable/Consulted/Informed tracker.
  • Coordinate design consultants and external service providers.
  • Organise design review meetings and communicate design acceptance to the Contractor.
  • Communicate design changes to relevant team members and stakeholders.
  • Report monthly on project tasks and construction activities.
  • Maintain the project risk register and update at progress meetings.
  • Identify improvements to PM procedures, templates and products.
  • Manage the change control process and ensure timely compensation events.
  • Oversee flow of project information between team and client via meetings and written communications.
  • For NEC contracts, review submissions, lead with mutual trust, and manage contract obligations.

The Project Manager will act as the Contracting Entity’s representative, taking responsibility for managing the project from planning and design through to the successful completion and commissioning of the project. The Project Manager is responsible for delivering the project to time, to budget and to specification, ensuring the project achieves all project goals and objectives in accordance with the Contracting Entity’s employer’s requirements and the corporate strategic intent forthe portfolio.

Oversee and monitor the delivery of the project around schedule, interface, cost, variations, contract and risk, liaising with the relevant team members and functions as required

Develop the Project Execution Plan, ensuring the project is aligned to and delivers in accordance with theContracting Entity’s standards and methods

Engage with and manage the project relationship with the Airport Transformation Manager.

Project Management Activities

Lead the coordination of the project ensuring interfaces are considered and addressed at all stages of the project lifecycle

Maintain the Responsible / Accountable / Consulted / Informed task tracker

Work with the technical teams in coordinating and managing the design consultants and other external service providers

Organise the appropriate design review meetings and be responsible for communicating design acceptance to the Contractor

Be responsible for communicating design changes to relevant members of the project team and stakeholders who may be impacted

Report monthly on the tasks throughout the project’s lifecycle including construction works (during theconstruction phase) that have been undertaken

Maintain the overall project risk register and update at monthly progress meetings

Identify opportunities to improve Project Management procedures, templates and products referring ideas to the appropriate line manager

Monitor and apply performance management techniques

Manage the change control process

Manage the flow of project information between the team and the client, through regular meetings and written communications

NEC Specific Activities (where applicable)

Review and accept programme submissions

Lead and act in the spirit of mutual trust and co-operation

Communicate and issue documents as required by the ECC and perform any other duties as stated in the contract

Carry out the duties as the Project Manager as required by the Contracting Entity’s contract for the Programme, maintaining close contact with the Client in order to ensure the Project Manager’s actions reflect the Contracting Entity’s objectives for the project

Manage the compensation event process so that the Contractor is fairly compensated for any Contracting Entity- initiated change on the project

Ensure the Contractor notifies compensation events in good time so that the Contracting Entity is not disadvantaged

Assess payment after each assessment interval

Qualifications

Minimum 10 years experience in the Construction / Infrastructure sector including on relevant aviation and/or other related projects of a similar size and complexity

Understanding of operating in a live airport site

Experience of operating on site, not just office based

Tangible experience of documenting best practice construction project management policies and standards.

Track record of delivering construction/asset delivery projects to time and within allocated budget;

Knowledge of operating as a client’s project manager

Experience of dealing with a range of stakeholders at all levels across the organisation influencing the improvement of process and guidance to support project delivery.
