Job Title: Project Manager – Automation & Packaging Systems

Description: We are hiring for our client, a growing Irish-owned specialist in end-of-line packaging systems and materials handling, who are seeking to appoint a Project Manager – Automation & Packaging Systems based in North Dublin. This is a fantastic opportunity for a hands-on engineer ready to step into leadership or a proven Project Manager seeking a new challenge in a fast-paced, technically engaging environment. Working as part of a small but highly skilled team, you will take ownership of automation projects from concept through to installation and handover. This role offers real autonomy, visibility, and the chance to work on diverse projects involving conveyors, robotics, and bespoke machinery solutions for leading manufacturers.

The Role:
  • Lead and manage automation projects from design through to commissioning and handover
  • Plan and coordinate workloads for a small team of designers and installation engineers
  • Liaise with clients throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring delivery to agreed scope and timescales
  • Work closely with procurement to ensure materials and components are ordered on time
  • Oversee technical drawings, documentation, and scheduling to maintain smooth delivery
  • Support testing, commissioning, and sign-off processes, ensuring systems meet specification and safety standards
  • Collaborate with internal teams and management to drive quality and project success
The Person:
  • Engineering background (Electrical, Automation, Mechanical or similar)
  • Experience working with automation systems, conveyors, robotics, or bespoke machinery
  • Strong communication, organisational, and coordination skills
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities
  • Comfortable leading small teams and liaising with clients and suppliers

Desirable:

  • NFQ Level 7+ qualification in Engineering or equivalent
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD/SolidWorks, PLCs, or SCADA/HMI systems
  • Experience in manufacturing or pharmaceutical environments
  • PMP or equivalent project management certification
