We are recruiting an experienced Project Director to join a growing rail consultancy and provide senior leadership across its project management function in Ireland.
This is a strategic position combining project delivery, commercial management, people leadership and work winning. You will act as a project management subject-matter expert, directing multidisciplinary teams and ensuring complex rail commissions are delivered safely and successfully against quality, cost and programme requirements.
Key responsibilities
- Provide senior direction and guidance to project managers, operational leaders, clients and suppliers.
- Lead project management teams across multiple offices, projects and client accounts.
- Oversee the preparation and assurance of project plans, controls and management information.
- Take responsibility for the commercial success of projects within your portfolio.
- Manage budgets, delivery costs, risk, quality and programme performance.
- Build relationships with clients and suppliers at director level.
- Lead bids, proposals and work-winning activities.
- Identify and sponsor project management improvement initiatives.
- Resolve interfaces across multidisciplinary engineering programmes.
- Undertake people‑management responsibilities when required.
- Promote project management excellence and consistent best practice.
What we’re looking for
- Extensive project or programme leadership experience within rail, transport or complex infrastructure.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant discipline.
- Chartered Project Professional status with the Association for Project Management.
- Fellowship of the APM, or the ability to achieve this shortly after joining.
- Deep understanding of project management principles and their application to complex or unusual situations.
- Strong commercial awareness, including budgets, change control and scope variations.
- Experience directing multidisciplinary and geographically dispersed teams.
- Proven ability to review, validate and approve project management deliverables.
- Excellent senior‑level client, supplier and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Strong knowledge of health, safety and welfare requirements.
- Experience leading bids and supporting business growth.
- Confident people leader with the ability to develop and motivate teams.
