Ethos is seeking an Electrical Project Engineer based in Ireland to join our Engineering Studio. You’ll design electrical systems for data centres, industrial, and commercial projects, delivering from concept through construction with a collaborative team.

You will work on power distribution, lighting, and low-voltage systems, coordinating with mechanical and sustainability colleagues while developing technical excellence and project delivery experience.

Qualifications

Based in Ireland; electrical building services design focus.
2–5 years’ consultancy experience in building services preferred.
Experience in data centres, industrial, energy, pharma, or commercial sectors.

Responsibilities

Deliver electrical design packages under supervision of senior staff.
Design power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, ICT, and LV systems from concept to construction docs.
Perform load calculations, cable sizing, fault level assessments, and lighting design.
Prepare schematics, single-line diagrams, and detailed layouts.
Support tender docs, specs, and technical reports.
Ensure outputs meet standards (CIBSE, IEC, BS, EN) and client requirements.
Participate in QA/QC reviews and coordinate with contractors and vendors.
Collaborate with mechanical, structural, and sustainability teams.
Maintain project docs and meet deadlines; assist in internal coordination.

About The Job

We are seeking a motivated Electrical Project Engineer with 2-5 years of experience in building services design to join our Engineering Studio - a collaborative pool of engineers supporting multiple projects across the business. The Engineering Studio sits at the heart of our technical delivery, providing expertise across data centres, industrial, energy, pharmaceutical, and commercial sectors. As a Project Engineer, you’ll play a key technical role in electrical system design, coordination, and project delivery. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you’ll contribute to the design and development of innovative, sustainable building solutions while gaining experience across diverse and fast-paced projects.

Responsibilities

Deliver defined electrical design packages under the supervision of Senior Engineers or Project Leads.
Support the design of power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, ICT, and low-voltage systems from concept through detailed design and construction documentation.
Perform load calculations, cable sizing, fault level assessments, and lighting designs using appropriate software tools.
Assist in preparing schematics, single-line diagrams, and detailed layouts for electrical systems.
Contribute to the development of tender documentation, specifications, and technical reports.
Ensure design outputs meet CIBSE, IEC, BS, IS, and EN standards, as well as client and project-specific requirements.
Participate in QA/QC reviews, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and compliance with internal standards.
Liaise with contractors, suppliers, and vendors to address technical queries and coordinate site interfaces.
Collaborate closely with mechanical, structural, and sustainability teams to deliver coordinated multidisciplinary designs.
Maintain project documentation and ensure all deliverables meet agreed deadlines and quality benchmarks.
Support internal coordination meetings, share learnings across the Engineering Studio, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Take responsibility for smaller system packages (e.g. small power or emergency lighting), with technical mentoring from senior engineers.

Technical Skills

Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and Bluebeam; familiar with BIM coordination processes.
Experience with Dialux, Relux, and Amtech (or equivalent) for electrical calculations and lighting design.
Working knowledge of ETAP or other electrical system analysis tools (advantageous).
Understanding of Irish Building Regulations, CIBSE Guides, and IEC/BS/EN standards for electrical systems.
Competent in preparing technical specifications, reports, and detailed electrical drawings.
Awareness of energy-efficient technologies, smart systems, and low-carbon design strategies within M&E environments.

Experience & Qualifications

The candidate must be based in Ireland to be considered for this position.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical or Building Services Engineering.
2-5 years’ experience in electrical building services design, ideally within a consultancy environment.
Exposure to at least one of the following sectors: data centres, industrial, energy, pharmaceutical, or commercial buildings.
Working towards Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with Engineers Ireland or equivalent.
Demonstrated experience in technical coordination, documentation, and task-driven project delivery.
