Job description

AWS Infrastructure Services (AIS) owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure, supporting all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that keep the cloud running. The team tackles highly complex supply‑chain problems and supports customers worldwide.

You’ll join a diverse group of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply‑chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other key roles to deliver the highest standards of safety and security while providing scalable capacity at the lowest possible cost.

In this role, you will own the project management, delivery, and operationalisation of energy projects that enable and optimise AWS access to grid‑connection capacity across the EMEA region.

You will be responsible for the interface with project origination, the subsequent delivery of the project, and the activities that operationalise the commercial and technical aspects of the project to ensure successful implementation. This will be achieved by leading the project management and delivery of generation and energy storage projects—from origin to implementation—working across procurement, contracting, engineering, and optimisation with internal partner teams, supply chain, and delivery partners to deliver on time, within budget, and in line with AWS customer requirements.

The candidate must be able to identify key risks to programme and delivery, working with internal partner teams and delivery partners to mitigate and develop solutions to ensure on‑time delivery. Managing a portfolio of projects requires handling complexity, ambiguity and varied timescales and balancing multiple relationships and conflicting priorities.

The candidate will be pragmatic, result‑oriented, experienced in pioneering projects, possess analytical skills, strong financial acumen, and a track record of working with utilities, regulators and developers across the energy industry.

Key job responsibilities

Lead projects and manage the delivery of generation and energy storage projects.

Manage project delivery from commercial agreement execution through operational launch, overseeing financial costs, budget control, and contractor performance to meet timelines and cost targets.

Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders including partner teams, contractors, and regulatory bodies to ensure all projects comply with planning requirements, health and safety standards, environmental permits, and lender obligations.

Identify and act on opportunities to accelerate project timelines, working proactively with contractors to mitigate risks and prevent delays that could impact data centre scaling.

Oversee budget and financial management, including tracking costs, managing variations, processing contractor claims, and maintaining cost control throughout the project life cycle.

Facilitate cross‑functional collaboration by engaging support from partner teams and external resources as needed to maintain project delivery schedules and resolve complex challenges.

The position can be based in Dublin, London or Madrid. Regular travel (10–20%) will be required throughout EMEA.
