Making Possible
- Business Management & Support - Develop the capabilities, tools, techniques and models to enable finance to influence and drive better decision making in the organisation.
- Management Reporting - Rationalise and improve the production of management reporting and analysis across processes, commercial policy, people and technology.
- CAPEX Investments - Supporting the Business Unit with analysis of and justification for CAPEX investments and post investment analysis. This includes supporting business cases and post-investments analysis, and drawing on lessons for future investments and budgeting.
- Strategic Agenda Process - Contribute to the BAM Group vision and plan, translate this into a vision and plan for Finance. Align key stakeholders around the Finance vision, strategy and plan and communicate it internally as well as externally.
- OP (Operating Plan) process – Assist the Business Controller and FP&A team in setting the Business Unit Operational Plan (OP) financial targets, in line with the Segment / Division strategic plans to enable the achievement of organisational performance goals.
- Set assumptions for revenue and cost levels to enable delivery of the Strategic Plan (SP) and Operating Plan (OP).
- Periodic Forecast process - Drive the Business Unit periodic forecast process, which is predicting the financial and non-financial performance of the organisation against the financial and non-financial targets/KPIs, and report on the achievement of organisational performance goals. This includes liaising with the FP&A team on quarterly forecasts (QF), monthly forecasts (MF), and a rolling forecast for the liquidity as part of the Business Unit control process.
- Project Control - Determine the critical success factors, opportunities, risks and performance indicators linked with project lifecycle stages. Provide guidance and challenge in Business Unit reviews.
- Tender Stage Gate Procedure (TSGP) - Assess the strategic goals regarding business development, pipeline quality and risk-return of tenders in the Tender Stage Gate Procedure.
- Position Paper Projects – Share Business Unit position papers with the auditor, helping them understand the position taken on the projects in line with accounting standards i.e. IFRS15.
What do you bring to the role?
- Qualified or part-qualified accountant actively working towards a full professional qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
- Experience of Microsoft packages with advanced knowledge of Excel, SharePoint, Word and PowerPoint.
- Strong commercial awareness with the ability to interpret financial data and support decision-making.
- Proficient in IT systems and financial software, ideally with experience in ERP platforms such as SAP and COINS.
- Experience of providing financial support to operational managers in a project environment (Business Partnering) preferably in Construction/Engineering with proven track record in previous role(s)
- Can do attitude - Identifying problems and tracking down potential causes; drawing correct and realistic conclusions based on the available information; a good work ethic and an ability to achieve demanding time and quality targets
- Experience of financial risk management and applying financial governance.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Effective communication skills – able to deliver persuasive arguments.
- Collaboration & Leadership – Strong analytical, oral and written communication skills.
- Team Player - Ability to work with Finance and non-Finance teams collaboratively as part of a team and actively contribute to excellence.
- Analytical, proactive, highly motivated and enthusiastic with good attention to detail.
