Job summary

Perform Recruitment is recruiting for a well-established food manufacturing business in Co. Cavan.

They are expanding their New Product Development team and seek a talented Product Development Technologist to lead idea-to-launch initiatives. You'll work hands-on across formulation, recipe development, specifications, and ingredient sourcing, coordinating closely with Production and Technical teams to deliver successful launches and ongoing menu evolution.

Qualifications

• Degree or hands-on industry experience in NPD or product development in a food manufacturing environment.
• Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to recipe and spec work.
• Good communication skills and ability to work with internal teams and customers.

Responsibilities

• Develop new products from initial idea through to launch, shaping new products.
• Build and update recipes, specifications, and product documentation.
• Contribute to customer briefs, tastings, and product presentations.
• Source and evaluate new ingredients and raw materials.
• Own individual NPD projects and keep them on track against timelines.
• Coordinate with Production and Technical to ensure on-time launches.
• Support ongoing improvements and redevelopment of existing product range.
• Monitor food trends and customer requirements to identify opportunities.

This business has built a strong reputation for quality and innovation in the food sector, and their New Product Development team is expanding as they invest further in new product ranges. As part of this growth, they’re now looking to add a talented Product Development Technologist to the team.

The Role

You’ll join the NPD team and play a hands‑on role in developing new and innovative food products, working closely with colleagues across Production, Technical, and customer‑facing teams to make sure every project runs smoothly from concept to completion.

Your day-to-day could include:

• Helping shape new products from initial idea through to launch
• Building and updating recipes, specifications, and product documentation
• Contributing to customer briefs, tastings, and product presentations
• Sourcing and evaluating new ingredients and raw materials
• Owning individual NPD projects and keeping them on track against timelines
• Coordinating with Production and Technical to ensure successful, on‑time launches
• Supporting ongoing improvements and redevelopment of the existing product range
• Keeping an eye on food trends, customer requirements, and new opportunities in the market

As you settle into the role and build experience, you’ll take on greater ownership of projects, customer accounts, and product categories, with plenty of scope to grow your responsibilities over time.

What We’re Looking For

• A degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related discipline — or equivalent hands‑on industry experience
• Some background in NPD, product development, or food technology within a food manufacturing environment
• Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to recipe and spec work
• A genuine interest in food innovation, new product trends, and solving practical development challenges
• Good communication skills, with the confidence to work closely with both internal teams and customers
