PACIV, a global leader in industrial automation, seeks an experienced Process Engineer for a Food & Beverage project in Cork, Ireland. The role focuses on implementing the process scope while collaborating with the project team, EPCM partners, vendors and OEMs to ensure energy efficiency and regulatory compliance.

The successful candidate will manage process ownership, support DQ/IQ/OQ/PQ activities, FAT/SAT, and commissioning, and drive safe, compliant handover to Operations.

Qualifications

  • BSc/BEng in Process Engineering, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical or equivalent.
  • 5+ years in project or process engineering within F&B, chemical, pharma or regulated sectors.
  • Experience with liquid processing systems, dry material handling, and plant design.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the process technical expert across the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure compliance with GMP/HACCP, hygiene zoning, and local regulations.
  • Support design, installation, commissioning, qualification and ramp-up (DQ/IQ/OQ/PQ).
  • Coordinate with EPCM partners, vendors, and OEMs for safe, compliant implementation.
  • Lead interface with Operations, Quality, EHS, Maintenance and Engineering to meet safety and quality targets.

Job description

Position:Process Engineer. Location: Cork, Ireland.

PACIV, a global leader in industrial automation solutions with offices in Ireland, the United States and Puerto Rico, and serving the Life Science, Food & B&E and Utilities industries, is looking for an experienced Process Engineer for a F&B project. This is a site-based role.

The ProcessEngineer will be responsible for implementing the process scope of the project and will work closely with the internal project team, EPCM partners, vendors and OEMs to deliver energy efficiency and regulatory compliance within the process scope.

Responsibilities of the Role
Process Ownership
  • Act as thekeytechnical and processexpertforProcessEngineeringacross the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure alignment withCompany Engineering Standards, hygienic design principles, and food&operatorsafetyregulations.
Project Execution/Commissioning
  • Support the Project Manager in execution & integration of the following process systems:
  • Dry Process Warehouse Design Flows & Racking Systems, Raw Material Handling, Pre Batching, Pick & Place, Lifting Aids, Robotics, Conveyor systems, Dust Extraction Systems, Compactors/Bailers, Scanning Systems & MES
  • Wet Process Bulk Liquid/Acid's& OilsReception/Storage/Blending, Oil & Liquid dosing, Dissolving, Emulsification, Homogenization, Sterilization (UHT/DSI), CIP Systems, waterspreparation.
  • Support the design, installation, commissioning, qualification & ramp up of the process(DQ,IQ, OQ, PQ).
  • Support FAT/SAT, performance testing and final qualification.
  • Troubleshoot process performance issues during installation, commissioning, and startup to meet performance targets.
CAPEX Support & Governance
  • Support process CAPEX package scope, planning, and reporting.
  • Provide technical input and support into cost/forecast accuracy, schedule adherence, and risk registers.
  • Support changecontrol and ensure all Process changes are fully assessed and documented.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with Operations, Quality, EHS, R&I, Maintenance, and Engineering to ensure process meets safety, quality, operational, environmental and hygienic requirements.
  • Collaborate with EPCM partners OEMs, contractors & consultants for sequencing, tie-ins, layout & installation conflicts, and commissioning plans.
  • Support interface between related systems i.e. Utilities, Automation, Electrical, Packing teams on interdependent systems (BMS, SCADA, EMS).
Procurement & Supplier Management
  • Support technical aspects of tenders for process equipment systems(URS,RFQ,SoW, technical bid evaluations, clarifications).
  • Support Regional Engineering and C&P (CAPEX Procurement) for supplier selection and contract alignment.
  • Support OEM/vendor deliverables for documentation, training, spare parts, and commissioning.
Standards, Compliance & Safety
  • Ensure compliance with:
  • Company Engineering Standards.
  • GMP/HACCP and hygiene zoning rules.
  • Local/European mechanical and ventilation regulations.
  • Embed Safety by Design and Quality by Design principles throughout engineering, installation and commissioning activities.
Operational Readiness & Handover
  • Ensure full compliance with GMP/HACCP, hygienic design principles and local/EU regulations.
  • Ensure documentation, validation, and qualification requirements are completed to a high standard.
  • Ensure smooth handover of all process systems to Operations and Maintenance.
  • Support development of SOPs, PM plans, training materials, spare parts lists, and CMMS master data.
  • Capture lessons learned to support long-term plant performance and reliability.
Reporting & Decision Support
  • Provide structured updates to the Project Manager on process progress, risks, commissioning readiness, and mitigation plans.
  • Provide technical insights to support strategic and operational decision-making throughout project phases.
Requirements

Candidates must have a valid EU Work Permit and Irish Residency.

Education
  • BSc/BEngin Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering orequivalent.
Experienced & Skills Required
  • 5+ years of experience inprojectengineeringor process engineeringimplementationroles within the F&B, chemical, pharmaceutical or related regulated process manufacturing sectors.
  • Extensive experience in liquid processing systems, dry material handling systems, aseptic technologiesand plant design.
  • Previousexperience in process implementation in a greenfield/brownfield site.
  • Experience working with EPCM partners, OEMs, cross-functional teams and external engineering partners.
  • Project management experience/qualification and proven experienceinCAPEX projects.
  • Experience with commissioning and qualification (FAT/SAT,DQ/IQ/OQ/PQ).
  • Ability to interpret engineering documents (P&IDs, PFDs, layouts,technicalspecs).
  • Strong troubleshooting skills during installation and startup.
  • Familiarity with automation and process control (PLC/SCADA/MES).
  • Ability to lead technical discussions with vendors.
  • Commitment to strong quality and safety culture.
  • Ability to work independently.
