Job summary

Workday in Ireland is seeking senior Performance Resiliency and Scalability Engineers to drive performance, resiliency and scalability of our cloud HCM, Analytics and Financial offerings. You will profile and optimise distributed architectures, reproduce customer issues, and apply Big Data/ML techniques to forecast capacity needs and guide capacity planning across the stack.

Candidates should come from performance engineering or development with deep cloud experience in GCP/AWS, Kubernetes,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or 10+ years of equivalent experience.
• Experience designing and optimising large distributed architectures on public clouds (GCP/AWS).
• Proficient with Kubernetes, Docker and service orchestration in production.
• Strong knowledge of performance and resiliency engineering methodologies.
• Experience triaging and resolving production issues.

About the Role

The position within the Performance Resiliency and Scalability group is ideally suited to senior candidates from a performance engineering or development background with a deep focus on performance and resiliency engineering specialising in Public Cloud related technologies The team has a broad charter that spans from profiling and optimising distributed architectures to the debugging and recreation of specific customer issues to using the latest Big DataMachine Learning techniques in order to extract actionable data and model future capacity and scalability needs Workday Performance Resiliency and Scalability Engineers are highly skilled and rigorous engineers who debug measure support and improve our software and platforms They play a critical role in optimizing services across the full technology stack where they distill opaque problems into actionable solutions

About You

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree or 10+ years of equivalent relevant experience
• Development or Operation experience designing analysing and optimising large distributed architectures on Public Cloud platforms such as GCP or AWS
• Experience supporting server orchestration solutions in production such as Kubernetes Mesos or Docker
• Excellent knowledge of performance and resilience engineering methodology testing techniques and approaches
• Experience triaging and resolving pipeline and production issues
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Must be able to seamlessly transition between solo and team projects

Other Qualifications

• Certifications relating to Kubernetes and public cloud providers such as GCP and AWS
• Experience with service health instrumentation and associated observability and instrumentation tooling such as Grafana or ELK
• Experience with Performance Load Stress and Scalability Testing and load testing tools such as Jmeter or Gatling
• Knowledge of storage networking and configuration management
• Experience with Data Science and ML technologies
• Proven ability to debugadminister Linux based operating systems with Infrastructure and application performance tuning and optimisation
