Job summary

Dell Technologies in Cork is looking for a Principal Manufacturing Technician to lead the setup, operation and maintenance of liquid cooling and test equipment in our Cork manufacturing environment. You will drive reliability, troubleshooting and continuous improvement across the factory while partnering with Manufacturing Engineers and Operations teams.

The role requires strong analytical and leadership abilities, a track record of preventive maintenance, and the ability to mentor technicians.

Qualifications

  • Advanced certificate or higher required for mechanical/electrical disciplines.
  • Minimum 6+ years of experience with advanced manufacturing equipment.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical and electromechanical systems.
  • Experience supporting automated equipment and industrial systems.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as site technical expert for liquid cooling equipment and test systems.
  • Lead troubleshooting and root cause investigations on complex issues.
  • Install, qualify, maintain and support manufacturing equipment for liquid cooling.
  • Drive uptime through preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineers on NPI and process validation.
  • Develop maintenance procedures and technical documentation.
  • Train technicians and operations staff on equipment operation and safety.
  • Coordinate with suppliers/service partners to resolve issues and upgrades.
  • Promote safety, compliance and environmental standards across areas.
  • Lead Lean and continuous improvement projects to boost productivity.
  • Support on-call and escalated equipment recovery activities.

Principal Manufacturing Technician

Principal Equipment Technicians play a critical role in supporting complex manufacturing and test equipment used in liquid cooling systems. They are technical experts for equipment reliability, installation, troubleshooting and continuous improvement while partnering closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, Quality and Product Development teams.

What you'll achieve

As a Principal Manufacturing Technician, you will support the setup, operation and maintenance of liquid cooling and test equipment used in engineering and manufacturing environments. You will lead advanced troubleshooting activities, support deployment of new equipment and technologies, and drive equipment reliability and operational excellence across the factory.

You will
  • Serve as the site technical expert for liquid cooling manufacturing equipment, test systems and associated infrastructure.
  • Lead troubleshooting and root cause investigations on complex mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, fluid and control system issues.
  • Install, qualify, maintain and support manufacturing equipment used for liquid cooling assembly, leak testing, coolant filling, thermal testing and rack integration activities.
  • Drive equipment uptime and reliability through preventative maintenance, predictive maintenance and continuous improvement programs.
  • Partner with Manufacturing Engineers on New Product Introduction (NPI), equipment commissioning and process validation activities.
  • Develop troubleshooting guides, preventative maintenance procedures, work instructions and technical documentation.
  • Train and mentor technicians and operations personnel on equipment operation, troubleshooting and safety requirements.
  • Work closely with equipment suppliers and service partners to resolve technical issues and implement upgrades.
  • Drive safety, equipment compliance and environmental standards across all areas of responsibility.
  • Lead and participate in Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement projects focused on equipment performance and productivity.
  • Support on-call and escalated equipment recovery activities when required.
  • Other engineering duties as required and assigned.

Essential Requirements
  • Advanced Certificate, Apprenticeship, Level 6 qualification or equivalent in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Automation or Manufacturing discipline
  • 6+ years of experience supporting advanced manufacturing, process or test equipment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in mechanical, electrical and electromechanical troubleshooting.
  • Experience supporting automated manufacturing equipment and industrial systems.
  • Strong knowledge of preventative maintenance, reliability engineering and root cause analysis methodologies.
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings and equipment documentation.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and lead technical problem-solving activities.
Desirable Requirements
  • Experience with cooling systems, heat exchangers and thermal management equipment.
  • Knowledge of PLC-controlled equipment, sensors, instrumentation and industrial automation systems.
