If so, our Principal Geospatial Consultant opportunity could be the role for you.

This role can be based in any of our Stantec offices across Ireland , with hybrid working arrangements providing flexibility between office and home working.

About the role

As a Principal Geospatial Consultant, you will play a key role within our growing Geospatial team, providing technical leadership and helping to develop and deliver innovative digital solutions for our clients.

You will lead and support a local team of geospatial professionals, developing and applying a range of digital capabilities across our projects. This could include data visualisation, multi-criteria analysis, automation and efficiency improvements, and best-practice data management .

Working within a consultancy environment, you will engage with both internal teams and external clients to understand their challenges and identify innovative, data-driven approaches to project delivery. You will be encouraged to challenge conventional ways of working, develop new service offerings and identify opportunities to use technology to improve the way we deliver for our clients.

As a Principal Geospatial Consultant, you will also play an important role in mentoring and developing early-career colleagues , helping to build technical capability and a strong team culture across the Geospatial discipline.

About you

We are looking for an experienced GIS/Data Analyst, Geospatial Data Engineer/Analyst or similar professional who has a strong understanding of geospatial concepts, data processing and digital technologies.

You will have experience working with a range of geospatial software and tools, ideally including Esri ArcGIS, FME and Power BI , alongside an interest in developing new digital and technical solutions.

You will also have demonstrated experience in technical and team leadership, with a passion for developing people, improving project delivery and expanding technical capabilities.

Experience within the utilities sector, particularly the water sector , would be advantageous.

What you’ll need

• Proven experience in technical project delivery, with experience of resourcing, coordinating and leading teams.

• Strong understanding of information and data management, data quality and quality assurance principles.

• Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to engage effectively with internal teams, clients and other stakeholders.

• Advanced technical expertise in Esri products , together with a good awareness of wider software, data and programming approaches.

• A curious and innovative mindset, with a willingness to challenge conventional approaches and identify new ways of delivering projects.

• A passion for developing new technical capabilities and service offerings.

• Experience mentoring and supporting early-career professionals and helping to develop high-performing teams.

• A collaborative approach and a commitment to contributing positively to the culture and identity of your local team.
