Job summary

Sanderson seeks a Principal Engineer to lead a product engineering team delivering business-critical applications. You'll provide hands-on technical leadership, architectural guidance and mentoring to deliver scalable, secure, and resilient solutions while shaping platform direction.

You will work with Product, Architecture and Engineering to drive engineering excellence, reduce technical debt, and modernise legacy systems.

Qualifications

• 8+ years' experience delivering enterprise-scale software solutions.
• Experience as a Principal, Lead or Staff Engineer in complex environments.
• Strong front-end expertise with Angular, TypeScript and RxJS.
• Strong backend development experience using Java and Spring Boot.
• Experience designing and developing REST APIs and microservices.
• Solid understanding of modern architecture patterns and cloud-native development.
• Experience with AWS, CI/CD pipelines and distributed systems.
• Strong knowledge of software quality, security, observability and testing practices.
• Proven ability to influence technical direction and lead engineering teams.
• GitHub Copilot or other AI-assisted development tools.
• Legacy modernisation programmes.
• Enterprise-scale architecture and solution design.
