WSP is seeking a highly skilled Geologist to join the Mine Engineering & Stability (MES) team at a Senior/Director level. Reporting to the MES Lead, based from London or elsewhere in the UK and/or Ireland, we are seeking people with more than just great technical skills, but a drive and passion to grow and do things differently.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in geology from a recognised university or equivalent.
  • Resource estimation experience across various commodities and deposit types, in a consulting setting.
  • Registered Chartered Geologist (CGeol) in the UK or equivalent.
  • Familiar with international reporting codes (NI 43-101, S-K 1300, JORC, SME).
  • Strong skills in geostatistics and resource estimation.
  • Willingness to perform Competent/Qualified Person roles on public disclosures.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and refine geological models to support resource estimation.
  • Estimate mineral resources with precision and accuracy.
  • Conduct site investigations and audits to ensure compliance and quality.
  • Lead QA/QC reviews on projects.
  • Contribute to technical reports and studies.
  • Collaborate on scope definition for geological mining studies (PEA, PFS, FS).
  • Travel to client sites and project locations as required.

A little more about your role...

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Geologist to join our dynamic Mine Engineering & Stability(MES) team at a Senior/Director level. If you are passionate about geology and resource estimation, and thrive in a collaborative environment, we want to hear from you! Reporting to the MES Lead, working from either London or elsewhere in the UK and/or Ireland, we're seeking people with more than just great technical skills, but a drive and passion to grow and do things differently. The Key Responsibilities:


  • Develop and refine geological models to support resource estimation.

  • Estimate mineral resources with precision and accuracy.

  • Conduct thorough site investigations and audits to ensure compliance and quality standards.

  • Lead quality assurance and quality control reviews on various projects.

  • Contribute to and critically review technical reports and studies.

  • Collaborate on the preparation and definition of scope for geological mining studies including Preliminary Economic Assessments (PEA), Pre-Feasibility Studies (PFS), and Feasibility Studies (FS).

  • Drive business growth by promoting WSP's capabilities and attracting new clients.

  • Attend and participate in client meetings, field reviews, and project oversight, often on short notice and across various locations.

  • Perform additional duties as required to support project success.


We'd love to hear from you if you have:


  • Bachelor's Degree in geology from a recognised university and/or equivalent qualification.

  • Resource estimation experience in a variety of commodities and deposit types, preferably within a consulting environment.

  • Registered as a Chartered Geologist (CGeol) in the UK or equivalent.

  • Familiar with international and public disclosure and reporting codes, including NI 43-101, S-K 1300, JORC, SAMREC, SME Guide, Competent Persons Reports, Mineral Resource Reports, etc.

  • Skills in geostatistics and resources estimations.

  • Ability and willingness to undertake a Competent Person/Qualified Person role on public disclosure projects.

  • Knowledge of mining fundamentals and techniques, rock mechanics, and mineral processing.

  • Excellent knowledge of computer applications including Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Working knowledge of 3D modelling software, mapping & geological database software: Datamine, Surpac, Minesight, Vulcan, Leapfrog Geo, Isatis, etc.

  • Knowledge and experience with scripts and macros.

  • Ability to communicate with colleagues and clients in a professional and technical manner.

  • Flexibility to travel as required for project work.

  • Fluent in the English language with excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work and complete tasks with limited supervision, make informed decisions, and take responsibility on technical matters.

  • Possess a team player attitude and be able to work in a project team environment.
