Job summary

Mulrines Ballybofey seeks a preventative maintenance fitter to keep our juice production equipment running at peak efficiency. You will perform both preventative and reactive maintenance in a fast-paced, safety-focused factory.

Working on a 3-shift rotation (days, evenings and nights), you’ll contribute to uptime and join a team with a long-standing tradition of quality. You will follow strict food safety practices and use CMMS for records, supporting shutdowns and contractor coordination.

Qualifications

• Experienced Maintenance Fitter in a manufacturing or factory setting.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with multi-skilled capabilities.
• Desirable electrics experience and fault-finding skills.

Responsibilities

• Carry out scheduled preventative maintenance and planned inspections.
• Perform condition checks on conveyors, pumps, motors, gearboxes, hydraulics.
• Identify early signs of wear and raise corrective orders.
• Record tasks in CMMS with parts used.
• Support shutdowns and liaise with contractors during outages.
• Provide reactive breakdown support to restore production.
• Follow lock-out/tag-out and food safety requirements.

About the role

The Role:

As a Preventative Maintenance Fitter, you will carry out both preventative and reactive maintenance to keep our machinery and equipment operating at peak performance.

Working on a 3-shift rotation (days, evenings, and nights), you will be a crucial part of maintaining production efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

• Carry out scheduled Preventative maintenance routines, including inspections, lubrication, adjustments and component replacements, to the planned frequency and standard.

• Perform condition checks such as vibration readings, thermal inspections and wear measurements on conveyors, pumps, motors, gearboxes and hydraulic systems.

• Identify early signs of deterioration and raise corrective work orders before faults cause unplanned downtime.

• Record completed PM tasks, findings and parts used accurately in the CMMS to maintain reliable asset history.

• Give feedback on PM routines and frequencies, and support root cause analysis on repeat failures.

• Assist with planned shutdowns and overhauls, coordinating with contractors and OEM engineers where required.

• Provide reactive breakdown support when needed, prioritising a safe and fast return to production.

• Follow lock-out/tag-out, permit-to-work and food safety requirements at all times, including hygienic practices and food-grade lubricants.

What We’re Looking For:

• Experienced Maintenance Fitter, ideally with a background in a manufacturing or factory environment

• Multi-skilled with strong mechanical aptitude

• Experience with electrics is desirable

• Proven experience working on conveyors, motors, and hydraulic systems

• Ability to troubleshoot effectively under pressure

• Strong commitment to safety and quality standards

• Flexibility to work on a 2 or 3 shift rotation (Days, Evenings, Nights)
