Job summary

DISCOVERIES CRECHE & MONTESSOR seeks a Playgroup Leader to provide a safe, nurturing environment and to deliver age-appropriate play and learning activities for children at Olcovar, Shankill, Co Dublin (D18 W2X2). Annual salary is €37,648 with a 40-hour work week.

Qualifications

• QQI Level 5 in Early Childhood Care and Education or equivalent.
• Experience with children in an early years/preschool/childcare setting.
• Knowledge of Aistear, Síolta and child development principles.
• Strong communication, observation and record-keeping skills.
• Understanding of safeguarding, health and safety and childcare compliance requirements.
• Ability to work as part of a team and build positive relationships with children and parents.

Responsibilities

• Provide a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment that supports learning, development and wellbeing of children in the playgroup.
• Plan, prepare and deliver age-appropriate play, learning and recreational activities in line with Aistear and Síolta frameworks.
• Support children's physical, emotional, social, language and cognitive development through purposeful play and interaction.
• Observe, monitor and record children's progress, development and wellbeing, maintaining accurate records where required.
• Build positive relationships with children, parents and guardians, providing regular feedback on children's participation and development.
• Promote positive behaviour and support children's independence, confidence and inclusion.
• Ensure safeguarding, health and safety, hygiene and welfare standards are maintained at all times.
• Assist in organising daily routines, learning activities, outings and special events.
• Work collaboratively with Early Years Educators, childcare assistants and other colleagues to ensure effective delivery of childcare services.
• Support implementation of policies, procedures and quality standards within the childcare setting.
• Participate in staff meetings, training and continuous professional development.
• Contribute to creating an inclusive environment that respects diversity and supports individual needs of all children.
