Job summary

Abbott Ireland is seeking an IT infrastructure support specialist to help plan, design and operate physical IT infrastructure across Abbott sites. You will contribute to reliability and continuous improvement of PI IT platforms, and support network cabling, power and cooling areas as needed.

The role requires 1-3 years experience with multinational enterprises, familiarity with ServiceNow and Microsoft 365, and willingness to travel about 25% to support projects at domestic and international

Abbott's EMEA Finance Shared Services centre commenced operations in Cherrywood, Dublin in October 2015. From this location the Finance Shared Services provides processing and expertise, in local languages, to Abbott divisions and affiliate companies across EMEA. The core services are in Record to Report, Order to Cash, Source to Pay and Master data management. The Financial Shared Services hub is part of Corporate Finance and has regional counterparts in the US and in Singapore.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The successful candidate will support the planning, implementation, and operation of physical IT infrastructure projects across Abbott sites, while contributing to the reliability and continuous improvement of PI IT infrastructure platforms.

• Assist with the planning, design, and implementation of IT infrastructure solutions, including network cabling, fiber optic systems, power, cooling, security, and other technologies that support computer, phone, and communication networks.
• Support compliance with Abbott Engineering and IT standards, industry-recognized standards, and applicable regulatory requirements, including FDA, OSHA, and corporate policies, procedures, and training requirements.
• Assist in the operation, maintenance, and lifecycle management of IT-managed infrastructure systems, including structured cabling, facility technologies, electrical systems, and related platforms.
• Participate in the installation and deployment of network infrastructure components, including structured cabling, wireless access points, and other network hardware.
• Support project implementation activities by collaborating with contractors, vendors, and project teams during infrastructure installations and site construction activities.
• Develop and maintain professional working relationships with customers, technical teams, and business stakeholders to support project and operational objectives.
• Provide technical support and problem-solving assistance for infrastructure projects and operational activities under the guidance of senior team members.
• Create and maintain accurate technical documentation to support implementation, operations, compliance, and quality requirements.
• Collaborate with suppliers, contractors, and technical partners to support project planning, deployment, and operational activities.
• Assist with project status reporting, documentation updates using approved project management tools and processes.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple assignments concurrently while meeting project timelines and deliverables.
• Strong customer-focused mindset with excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Travel of approximately 25% is required to support project execution and operational activities across domestic and international Abbott locations.
• Ability to perform independently while also contributing effectively to a team-oriented environment to support business needs and project objectives.

EDUCATION AND COMPETENCIES REQUIRED

• 1-3 years IT infrastructure support with multinational enterprises.

EDUCATION AND COMPETENCIES PREFERRED

• Familiarity with the design, installation, and maintenance of Layer 1 physical infrastructure, including structured cabling systems.
• Familiarity with power distribution and supporting infrastructure technologies, including Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS), Power Distribution Units (PDUs), Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS), and related electrical systems, is preferred.
• Familiarity with IT service management and ticketing platforms, such as ServiceNow, or similar enterprise support systems, is preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and related business applications, including Outlook, Visio, Word, Excel, and collaboration tools used to support project delivery, documentation, and communication.
• Reliable personal transportation, along with valid and current documentation required for vehicle operation, is a requirement of this position.
