Job summary

The Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences is seeking a Social Worker to join the Complex General Psychiatry C (CGP C) unit in Whitby. Qualifications

• An MSW is required.
• Must be registered with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers in good standing.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Recovery.
• 3-5 years psychiatric experience in a mental health facility or service is desirable.
• Knowledge of the Mental Health Act and PHIPA.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Competence in crisis intervention and therapies such as CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, Behavioral Activation.
• Knowledge of concurrent disorders is an asset.
• Experience/knowledge of the Forensic system is an asset.
• Excellent interpersonal and oral/written communication skills.
• Proficiency in a second language and ability to work with diverse populations is an asset.
• Ability to perform the physical demands of the position.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Ontario Shores is currently seeking a Social Worker to work in Complex General Psychiatry C. Staff on this unit will work with an interprofessional care team to provide assessment, stabilization and treatment services for patients with schizophrenia and other complex mental illness. The successful candidate will be a Social Worker with sound knowledge of clinical social work in the area of mental health and addiction issues.

Requirements:
