A recruitment agency is seeking a Social Care Worker to support young people in addiction. This part-time role involves providing care, advocating for service users, and working as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Job Description

On behalf of our client in public health, we are seeking a Social Care Worker to join their team. This is a community-based role supporting young people in addiction.

Working within local policy framework, best practice and quality standards, as part of a clinically led, multi-disciplinary team, the main duties include; the support, care, welfare, advocacy, assessment and case planning of service users. Experience working in addiction essential. This is a part-time position, 2 days per week, between Athlone and Mullingar.

Main Duties
  • To participate in the development and implementation of service user Care and Placement Plans and to ensure appropriate recording of same.
  • To promote the rights and responsibilities of service users.
  • To promote welfare of service users
  • To attend meetings in relation to the care and developments of the service user.
  • To implement the practices and principles of effective conflict management
  • To attend team meetings and to report to the Manager on matters affecting the delivery of service.
  • To make written and verbal reports to the Manager on a regular basis on the progress / development of service user care plans.
  • Reporting and recording any incidents, however minor, that may happen in the course of duty.
  • To work as a member of a team.
  • To keep abreast of current legislation and current professional care knowledge.
  • To implement relevant procedures and policies.
  • To undertake ongoing professional training and development.
  • To attend regular clinical supervision with external provider.
  • To perform any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
Requirements
  • A recognised Social Care qualification.
  • Full Irish driving licence and access to own vehicle.
  • CORU registration, or proof of application for CORU registration.
  • Previous experience in a similar role.
  • Strong administration and ICT skills
  • High communication skills and strong written and spoken English.
