Job summary

Bon Secours Health System in Ireland is recruiting a Part-Time Phlebotomist (18.5 hours per week) on a permanent basis. The role supports our hospital laboratories with blood collection and venipuncture in wards and outpatients, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

Qualifications

• Hold the certificate in Phlebotomy from DCU/National Ambulance Training School or equivalent.
• Be registered in the general division of the live register maintained by An Bord Altranais.

Responsibilities

• Collect blood samples and perform venepuncture on hospital wards and outpatients.
• Familiarise with SOPs, sign training records and implement SOPs where required.
• Adhere to SOPs for Phlebotomy and perform duties in allocated areas.
• Be a conscientious timekeeper to ensure early blood results.
• Approach patients confidently and reassure them of your capabilities.
• Liaise with clerical staff regarding special needs for outpatients.
• Liaise with Specimen Reception for timely specimen delivery.
• Coordinate with nursing staff to ensure correct forms/tests are ordered.
