Job description

We are currently recruiting for a Packaging Engineer to join our West Galway team on a 6-month contract and play a key role in optimizing our manual and automated packaging and visual inspection lines across high‑end pharmaceutical/medical device platforms.

Responsibilities
  • Boost OEE and operator availability across packaging and visual inspection operations.
  • Lead process improvements for manual, semi‑automatic, and automated inspection equipment.
  • Partner with leading suppliers (Optel, Marchesini, Brevetti, Mettler Toledo, Mikron, Harro Hofliger, etc.).
  • Deliver equipment reliability through preventative maintenance, root cause analysis, and technical problem‑solving.
  • Lead or support capital equipment projects and continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma, SMED, FMEA).
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with engineering, operations, quality, and supply chain teams.
  • Ensure compliance with GMP and quality systems, managing CAPAs, IRs, and documentation.
Requirements
  • Degree in mechanical, mechatronics, packaging, or related engineering field.
  • Strong experience with packaging technologies and automation systems.
  • Proven knowledge of GMP, quality systems, and continuous improvement tools.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills.
  • Proficiency in Power BI, SAP, and MS Office.
