Job summary

Kirby Group Engineering is an international multi-disciplinary engineering services contractor delivering high-value projects across Ireland, the UK, Europe, and beyond. The Junior Estimator will support senior estimators to provide accurate take-offs, submissions, and bid support for a growing portfolio of works.

Qualifications

• 3rd level qualification in Engineering, Building Services Engineering or strong trades background.
• Ideally 1+ years’ experience in construction estimating.
• Good listening skills and ability to understand information and ideas.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks under pressure.
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written.

Responsibilities

• Prepare estimates by compiling take offs based on the scope of work and entering into computer estimating system.
• Read Technical Specifications and Employers Requirements for proposed Design & Build installations.
• Manage tendering process with the various departments, and the timely submitting of the tender.
• Assist in compiling the Technical Submission of inclusions, exclusions, clarifications and program of works.
• Manage the quotation request process and review quotations for completeness.
• Manage multiple projects at any one time.
• Predict possible issues and pitfalls of projects, and advise the bid team of project risks and solutions.
• Follow up on submitted tenders and document the relevant feedback.
• After the successful bid at project handover, meet with the Construction Team to fully explain the estimate, scope of work, quotes and offer aspects for the successful transition of the project.

Education

3rd level qualification in Engineering or Building Services Engineering or strong trades background

Junior Estimator Responsibilities

Necessary requirement of the Junior Estimator

• 3rd level qualification in Engineering, Building Services Engineering or comes from a strong trades background
• Ideally will possess 1+ years’ experience in the construction industry in a similar Estimator position.
• Good listening skills and understand information and ideas
• Excellent attention to detail
• An interest in a career in estimation
• The ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and changing priorities as necessary
• An understanding of standard operating procedures
• The ability to be able to work under pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude
• Have Effective oral and written communication skills
