Job summary

Woodston Personnel Ltd. is seeking a Registrar in Orthopaedic Surgery to oversee day-to-day care of orthopaedic inpatients and outpatients in Ireland’s Connacht region. The role includes participation in theatre, clinics, ward rounds, and an on-call rota under consultant supervision.

The candidate will engage in weekly teaching, CPD, audits, and research while supervising junior doctors and students. Experience in Trauma & Orthopaedics and BST is desirable; fluent English is essential.

Qualifications

• Medical degree from a recognised institution.
• Full registration or eligibility for registration with the Irish Medical Council.
• Minimum 3 years postgraduate experience, including at least 12 months in Trauma & Orthopaedics.
• Completion of Basic Surgical Training (BST) or equivalent preferred.
• Fluent English.

Responsibilities

• Attend and manage orthopaedic inpatients and outpatients, including trauma cases.
• Participate in theatre, clinics, ward rounds and on-call rota.
• Engage in daily meetings, multidisciplinary discussions and CPD activities.
• Document patient care and maintain accurate medical records, including operative notes and discharge summaries.
• Supervise and support junior doctors and medical students.
