Role Description

The Oral Surgeon for Specialist Practice will provide oral surgery and dental implantology services, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and surgical procedures. Day-to-day responsibilities include performing extractions (including complex and impacted teeth), pre-prosthetic surgery, dental implant placement, and minor oral and maxillofacial procedures. The role also involves administering appropriate local anesthesia or sedation, managing post-operative care, maintaining detailed clinical records, and collaborating with referring dentists and other healthcare professionals. The Oral Surgeon will participate in clinical consultations, contribute to multidisciplinary case discussions, and support continuous improvement in clinical protocols and patient pathways. This is a part-time, on-site role based at Castle Clinic Sandycove in Dublin, that can then be full-time for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• Strong skills and experience in Oral Surgery, including complex extractions, surgical procedures, and management of oral pathologies.
• Clinical competence in Dentistry and Dental Implants, including diagnosis, treatment planning, placement, and restoration coordination.
• Relevant training and proficiency in Medicine and Anesthesiology as they apply to oral surgery, including safe administration of local anesthesia and sedation.
• Recognized dental degree and specialist qualification or equivalent certification in Oral Surgery or Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
• Current professional registration and eligibility to practice in Ireland, with appropriate indemnity coverage.
• Demonstrated commitment to evidence-based practice, continuing professional development, and adherence to clinical governance standards.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex procedures clearly and build trust with patients and referring clinicians.
• Strong teamwork skills, reliability, and the ability to work efficiently in a specialist clinic environment.
