Job summary

Wallace Myers International in Ireland seeks a Resident Engineer to act as the site employer's representative for bridge construction, rehabilitation and maintenance projects in partnership with Kerry County Council. You will oversee day-to-day site operations and ensure compliance with design drawings and standards.

You will coordinate with contractors, the design team, and Kerry County Council, manage quality assurance, reporting, risk registers, and maintain site records.

Qualifications

• Level 8 honours degree (or higher) in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) with Engineers Ireland preferred, or progressing toward chartership.
• Minimum 5 years post-graduation site experience in bridge construction, heavy civil engineering, or structural rehabilitation.
• Deep familiarity with Irish bridge design and construction standards (TII/NRA, Eurocodes).
• Strong contract management, communication, problem solving, and a full clean Irish driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Site supervision of bridge construction, repairs, piling, formwork, reinforcement, and concrete pours.
• Assist in administering construction contracts (Public Works/NEC/FIDIC), track progress, review interim payments, and evaluate change orders.
• Ensure compliance with TII/NRA/Eurocodes and Kerry County Council specifications, environmental and planning conditions.
• Support PSCS/PSDP coordination, inspect method statements, review risk assessments, and promote zero-harm safety culture.
• Witness site testing, review material certs, maintain site records, diaries, and photographic logs.
• Liaise with Kerry County Council area engineers, landowners, utility providers, and the design team.
• Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports detailing schedule, budget status, site issues, and risk registers.
