Job description

Are you an experienced transport or weighbridge professional who thrives in a fast-paced, operations-driven environment?

My client, a leading construction and materials group operating across Ireland and Great Britain, is currently seeking a Shift Transport Planner / Weighbridge Operator to join their team at their Kinnegad site.

With a group turnover of approx. £1.6 billion per annum and operations including cement plants, quarries, asphalt plants and ready-mixed concrete sites, they play a vital role in building the places where we live, work and play.

This key role ensures the effective and efficient operation of the weighbridge, supports transport planning activities, and contributes to high standards of safety, accuracy, and customer service.

Responsibilities
  • Weigh inbound and outbound materials, accurately recording all data for invoicing purposes
  • Control site access and direct vehicles, visitors, and emergency personnel as required
  • Record truck dispatch and return times to maintain accurate logistical tracking
  • Maintain stock of weighbridge stationery and ensure the weighbridge area is kept clean and operational
  • Promote, maintain, and prioritise a strong health & safety culture
  • Handle sales enquiries, process customer orders, and maintain invoice documentation
  • Communicate professionally with customers and internal stakeholders, including logging and escalating complaints
  • Organise lorry fleet scheduling, haulage coordination, and raw material imports to meet production and delivery demands
Requirements
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Highly organised with the ability to analyse data and use weighbridge software
  • Confident, professional, and capable of building strong working relationships
  • Previous experience in a weighbridge, transport planning, or similar operational role preferred
  • Good numeracy skills to ensure data accuracy
  • Flexibility to work rotating shifts: 06:00–14:00, 14:00–22:00, with occasional 18:00–06:00 and weekend shifts
  • Excellent communication skills to liaise with customers, drivers, and internal teams
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and weighbridge management systems
  • Strong organisational and time‑management capability
  • Self‑motivated with a proactive, can‑do approach
  • Ability to maintain KPIs and consistently high work standards
