The Marine Institute is the national agency responsible for marine research, technology, development and innovation (RTDI). The Marine Institute seeks to assess and realise the economic potential of Ireland’s 220-million-acre marine resource; promote the sustainable development of marine industry through strategic funding programmes and scientific services; and safeguard the marine environment through research and environmental monitoring. The Institute works in conjunction with the Department of Agriculture, Food and Marine (DAFM) and a network of other Government Departments, semi-state agencies, national and international marine partners.
The Marine Institute is seeking a Scientific Technical Officer (STO) to support the delivery of its commitments under three Interreg Atlantic Area (AA) projects: AWESDI, UPWELLING, and AOFFTECH. Reporting directly to the Team Leader (TL) managing these projects, the STO will provide scientific, technical, coordination, reporting support among other duties. The role will have a particular focus on the AWESDI project activities, including delivering AWESDI’s sustainability assessments, socio-economic data collection, and stakeholder mapping activities and Responsibilities will include assisting in the coordination of project activities, preparing reports and deliverables, supporting stakeholder interactions, and contributing to the development of technical content. The STO will also support the UPWELLING project where necessary by contributing to the Academy, Proof of Concept (PoC) pilots, and stakeholder engagement.
