Job description
Occupational Therapist

The Occupational Therapist (OT) will be a key member of the multidisciplinary Children’s Disability Network Team (CDNT), providing assessment and intervention to children and young people (0–18 years) with complex needs. The OT will focus on supporting the child’s functional abilities in areas such as self-care, play, sensory processing, motor development, and participation in daily life activities, in partnership with families and other professionals. This is a role based in North Donegal and I will consider a Staff or Senior Grade candidate.

Responsibilities of Occupational Therapist
  • Conduct occupational therapy assessments for children with a range of physical, sensory, developmental, and cognitive disabilities.
  • Develop and deliver individualised, family-centred intervention plans to support participation and independence in daily activities.
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, including Speech and Language Therapists, Physiotherapists, Psychologists, Social Workers, and others.
  • Provide consultation, advice, and training to parents, carers, and educational or community service providers.
  • Use evidence-informed practice and contribute to ongoing improvement of services.
  • Prepare clear and timely therapy records, reports, and documentation in line with professional guidelines and service standards.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions, planning meetings, and service development initiatives.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and supervision.
  • Support the development and delivery of group programmes and workshops for families and children.
3>Requirements of Occupational Therapist
  • Recognised degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • Registration with CORU as an Occupational Therapist (or eligible for same).
  • Experience working with children and families, particularly within disability services or paediatric settings is desirable.
  • Competency in planning, prioritising, and managing a caseload.
  • Full driver’s licence and access to transport (for community-based work).
