A community-focused organization in Dublin is seeking new Board members. Candidates should have management experience, preferably in the Community or Voluntary sector, along with a willingness to engage in Board discussions. This role involves supporting a stable business model aimed at social gain. The Board meets approximately 6-7 times a year, usually on Tuesday or Thursday evenings.
Oakfield Trust is the trading name of Clondalkin Community Property CLG. It was established in 1996 as a community based social enterprise with registered charity status (Charity Regulator Authority No: 20041861). Its core charitable purpose is to provide a range of property-based services and related supports for community and local projects in marginalized areas and socially excluded communities.
In practical terms, our core trading activities consist of providing commercial properties which are all rented to tenants in the social enterprise and community sector. Currently we have a portfolio of five properties in the Clondalkin area, three of which are owned and two leased.
Oakfield Trust (OT) exists to act as a catalyst for social gain in areas of social exclusion (particularly local) through the provision of community & social enterprise facilities, services and supports. It does this by:
It has also assisted local organisations with project development loans and grants and new-build project management. In 2022, OT hired a Social Impact Manager to increase its activities in the social enterprise sector and launched its first social enterprise grants programme. Read more on our website.
The Board of OT is a voluntary, collective decision-making and oversight body acting in the best interests of the organisation. It has some experienced members but is recruiting additional members as the organisation develops and innovates in response to emerging needs.
This is a great opportunity to join an organisation with a quite unique and stable business model, with big ambitions in the social enterprise sector, and to be on a diverse Board of passionate and enthusiastic Directors. The Board meets approximately 6-7 times a year for approximately 2 hours, usually evenings on Tuesdays/Thursdays where applicable.
