Job summary

Alexion Pharmaceuticals, Inc. in Athlone, Ireland seeks a QC Technical Specialist (Microbiology) for night shift to lead microbiology testing, environmental monitoring, and sterility assurance within the QC laboratory.

You will drive investigations, CAPAs, and continuous improvement while ensuring compliant operations and collaboration across Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, and Technical Operations. This is a night shift role with leadership during supervisor absence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Biological Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related field.
• Experience in pharma/regulated lab environments.
• Strong understanding of QC operations, microbiology testing, and GMP.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership across microbiology testing, environmental monitoring, and sterility assurance.
• Support day-to-day QC lab operations, ensuring safety, efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
• Lead/participate in validation and qualification of microbiology test methods and lab systems.
• Collaborate to develop/implement Lab Information Management Systems (LIMS).
• Lead quality risk assessments and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Manage complex investigations, identify root causes and implement CAPAs.
