BIRGER. in Kilcoole, Ireland is seeking Network Technicians.

The role centers on configuring, installing and maintaining network infrastructure, monitoring efficiency, troubleshooting outages, and supporting customers during installations. The ideal candidate will hold a degree in Telecommunications/Network/Computer Science, have at least 2 years in an IT/network role, and ideally hold CCNA Routing & Switching.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Telecommunications/Network/Computer Science (or related field).
  • At least 2 years in an IT/network role.
  • CCNA Routing & Switching certification preferred.
  • Fluent in French and English, written and spoken.

Responsibilities

  • Establish networking environment by configuring and installing devices and documenting standards.
  • Maximize network performance by monitoring, troubleshooting, and coordinating upgrades.
  • Investigate data network faults in local and wide area environments.
  • Secure network systems by enforcing policies and monitoring access.
  • Travel to customer sites and provide on-site and remote support as required.
  • Assist with firmware upgrades and configuration of routing/switching equipment.
  • Configure hosted IP voice services and basic firewall settings.
  • Provide timely responses during emergency work requests.

We are recruiting Network Technicians. The ideal candidates should have a real interest in working in Technology.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Establishing networking environment by configuration, system installation, documenting, and enforcing system standards;
  • Maximizing network performance by monitoring performance, troubleshooting network problems and outages, scheduling upgrades and collaborating with network team on network optimisation;
  • Undertaking data network fault investigations in local and wide area environments, using information from multiple sources;
  • Securing network system by establishing and enforcing policies, and defining and monitoring access;
  • Updating job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks and participating in professional organisations;
  • Upgrading data network equipment to latest stable firmware releases;
  • Configuration of routing and switching equipment;
  • Configuration of hosted IP voice services;
  • Basic configuration of firewalls;
  • Remote support of on-site engineers and end users/customers during installation;
  • Remote troubleshooting and fault finding if issues occur upon initial installation;
  • Provides timely customer support during responses to emergency work requests;
  • Travels to and from customer/work sites in the performance of duties;
  • Performs any other related duties as assigned by the Head of Business.
Experience
  • Degree in Telecommunications/Network/Computer Science;
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in an IT/network related position;
  • Relevant IT industry certification preferably CCNA Routing & Switching;
  • Ability to work in a team;
  • Ability to work under pressure.
Skills
  • Must possess a good knowledge of network characteristics and network components (i.e.: network servers, switches, routers, cabling, etc.);
  • Must possess the ability to interpret and apply complex technical manuals and reference materials;
  • Must possess the ability to communicate effectively in French & English (both written and spoken);
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and the ability to practically apply the associated principles and practices;
  • A valid driver’s license will be an advantage.
