Job summary

Meta seeks an early-career Network Engineer to design, automate, and optimize a production network that serves a billion users. You will deploy scalable network designs, implement automation solutions, and drive performance improvements in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires knowledge of UNIX, TCP/IP, routing Protocols, and programming in Python/Golang/Rust/C++. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta. Irish work authorization is required.

Qualifications

• Pursuing or completed Bachelor's in CS/CE or equivalent.
• Experience with UNIX, TCP/IP and networking fundamentals.
• Experience programming in Python, Golang, Rust or C++.
• Knowledge of Switching/Routing concepts.
• Knowledge of BGP, OSPF and ISIS routing protocols.
• Knowledge of MPLS, GRE, IP-in-IP tunneling.
• Ability to integrate AI tools to optimize workflows.
• Experience with responsible AI practices (risk, bias, quality).
• Willingness to obtain/maintain work authorization in Ireland.

This will be your network and it is constantly growing. Your primary function will be to ensure that the network is reliable, robust and can scale to meet the challenges that serving over a billion users presents. Automation and continuous improvement are the keys to meeting our demands; you will be responsible for developing and deploying network designs, automation systems and network performance improvements into our production network.

• Experience learning new concepts around network design and management
• Experience with UNIX, TCP/IP, network fundamentals, or similar
• Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment
• Experience with computer networks
• Experience coding in at least one language (Python/Golang/Rust/C++ are all in use)
• Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta
• Knowledge of Switching and Routing concepts and implementation
• Knowledge of routing protocols BGP, OSPF and ISIS
• Knowledge of tunneling protocols MPLS, GRE, IPnIP
• Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)
• Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)
• Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies
