Job summary

Amazon Development Centre Ireland Limited in Dublin is seeking Network Development Engineer Interns for a 12-week program starting June/July 2027 to gain hands-on experience in AWS networking.

You will work across Network Engineering, Network Scaling and Deployment teams, with mentoring and real impact on network infrastructure, learning routing, automation and large-scale cloud networking in a production environment.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with graduation in 2028.
• Experience in a Linux/Unix environment and scripting in Python, Perl or Shell.
• CCNA or equivalent networking certification is preferred.

• Assist in building and maintaining AWS networking infrastructure.
• Collaborate with Network Engineering, Scaling and Deployment teams.
• Develop automated tooling to improve network operations and troubleshooting.

As a Network Development Engineer intern in the AWS team, you will be building, growing and maintaining Amazon’s Retail and Web Services network, one of the most complex and largest scale networks of its type, leveraging the latest in high scale networking hardware, multi-tier topologies and advanced tooling so that it can match Amazon's rapid growth. Members of this team play a key role in furthering these technologies, delivering ever expanding network capacity, connectivity whilst ensuring a safe and reliable operating environment, often through development of automated systems and tooling for network operation.

You will gain exposure in a number of different roles across our Network Engineering, Network Scaling and Deployment and Network Operations teams, where you will also interact with a variety of internal customer, product and software development teams to expand your knowledge and hands on skills in the latest network technologies, practices and operating environments, preparing you for your ongoing career in AWS networking. You will work with a mentor throughout the program and have real impact on the future of our platform whilst honing your networking and software development skills in a true production environment.

Basic Qualifications

• Enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Telecommunications or similar program. Graduation in 2028
• Experience working in a Linux/Unix environment
• Experience scripting in languages such as Python, Perl or Shell

Preferred Qualifications

• CCNA or equivalent level networking certification
• Network troubleshooting or support experience
• Knowledge of IP Networking fundamentals and Routing Protocols such as BGP, OSPF, R&S
• Knowledge of network hardware and packet forwarding architectures
• Ability to handle ambiguous or vaguely defined challenges and articulate technical solutions through abstract thinking
