Job summary

Amazon is seeking best-in-class Network Engineers to deploy and automate one of the world’s largest and most complex networks across global data centers. You will support services including Retail, Kindle and Payments, building reliable infrastructure that scales with demand.

You will collaborate with internal customers, define standards, and work with automation teams to create scalable deployment processes that boost reliability, velocity and quality in a fast-growing environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent IT experience.
• Experience in large-scale networking environments.
• Experience with routing protocols: TCP/IP, BGP, MPLS, ISIS and/or OSPF.
• Experience with Linux/Unix.
• Experience with Bash/shell scripting and Perl/Python.

Responsibilities

• Deploy network infrastructure across Amazon Retail Service, Kindle, Payments, and services.
• Deploy, scale and automate networks across global datacenters, existing and greenfield.
• Drive scaling of current network designs to meet demand.
• Create simple, repetitive deployment processes to boost velocity and quality.

• Create and update network standards and ensure deployment to them.

Key job responsibilities

As a Network Engineer working within Amazon Infrastructure you will:

• Be responsible for deploying network infrastructure across all of our network fabrics that supports the Amazon Retail Service, Kindle, Payments and multiple Amazon services.
• Deploy, scale and automate our network across multiple global datacenters. This includes existing footprints and greenfield locations.
• Drive scaling of current network designs to meet the demand of our customers.
• Create simple, repetitive deployment processes that increase both velocity and quality.
• Work closely with our internal customers on designs/solutions; bringing those designs/solutions from concept to production.
• Create and update our network standards and ensure that the network is deployed to these standards.
• Create and implement changes on the network.
• Work closely with our automation teams in defining the tools that allow us to scale at unprecedented volume.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or experience related IT
• Experience working in a large-scale networking environment
• Experience in internet routing protocols and concepts: TCP/IP, BGP, MPLS, ISIS and/or OSPF
• Experience with network operating systems such as Cisco IOS and Junos
• Experience working in a Linux/Unix environment
• Experience in automation via Bash/shell scripting and Perl/Python programming

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of network analysis fundamentals and robust troubleshooting
• Experience working with customers to diagnose a problem and work towards resolution
• Experience in English-language communication skills, both written and verbal
• Experience leading and defining requirements and driving these across diverse organizations
• Experience leading highly technical programs involving infrastructure, complex systems, systems engineering
