Job summary

Apple is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Manager in R&D to lead a team of engineers in designing, developing and optimizing innovative manufacturing processes to support its product lineup.

You will collaborate with global cross-functional teams, drive continuous improvement, and guide the design and qualification of manual to automated solutions within a prototype manufacturing environment. Strong leadership and a track record in manufacturing/R&D are required.

Qualifications

• Experience in development or optimisation of manufacturing processes in a manufacturing or R&D environment.
• Experience providing technical direction and mentorship to engineering teams.
• Engineering degree in Mechanical / Manufacturing / Process / Industrial / Biomedical / Mechatronic Engineering or related field.

Description

As Manufacturing Engineering Manager in R&D, you will be responsible for leading a team of talented engineers in the design, development, implementation and optimisation of innovative processes and technologies to support Apple’s amazing product line up.

Responsibilities

• Development of end to end manufacturing processes and technologies to support R&D activities
• Collaboration with global cross functional teams to deliver end to end solutions
• Continuous process improvement and optimisation, driving key performance metrics to support delivering solutions to global partners
• Design, commissioning and qualification of manual, semi-automated and automated solutions within a prototype manufacturing environment
• Supporting design teams through design form manufacture and process selection feedback
• Manage and develop your team, driving growth through structured development planning and mentorship

Minimum Qualifications

• Experience in development or optimisation of manufacturing processes within a manufacturing or R&D environment
• Experience in providing technical direction, coaching and mentorship to engineering teams either through direct management or indirect oversight
• B.Eng. M.Eng, B.Sc. M.Sc. in Mechanical / Manufacturing / Process / Industrial / Biomedical / Mechatronic Engineering or equivalent third level qualification in a related discipline

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in leading technical teams in a manufacturing or R&D environment
• Experience in 3D CAD for design of equipment / tooling / fixtures / assembly aids
• Experience with additive manufacturing processes such as 3D printing
• Experience with laser technology i.e. marking, cutting
• Experience in writing technical documentation, i.e. technical reports, work instructions, change impact assessments, user requirement specifications, equipment qualification protocols and reports etc.
• Knowledge of PFMEA or equivalent risk analysis methodologies
• Experience using statistics to assess process capability
• Knowledge of industrial engineering, line balancing, lean or six sigma
• Experience working with third-party vendors
• Experience supporting multiple projects simultaneously with the ability to prioritise activities
