Job summary

Murphy is recruiting for a Managing Quantity Surveyor to join our growing team in Ireland. The role centres on leading commercial activities, preparing valuations, cost reporting and subcontract administration.

The position requires HND/degree qualifications with proven experience in a commercial role, and registration with RICS/ICES with progress toward chartership. NEC knowledge and standard measurement methods are advantageous.

Qualifications

  • HND or degree qualification required.
  • Proven experience in a commercial role (Assistant QS, QS or similar).
  • Registered with RICS or ICES and working towards chartership.
  • Knowledge of Standard Forms of Contract; NEC preferable; and Standard Methods of Measurement.

Responsibilities

  • Aid in internal commercial reporting and other required reports.
  • Prepare valuations/apps for payment with full documentation per contract.
  • Control of cost reports to the client with contract-compliant docs.
  • Prepare and manage subcontract and material procurement schedules.
  • Administer subcontractor/supplier accounts from requisitions to final accounts.
  • Undertake contract administration including change management and registers.
  • Identify commercial risks, opportunities, value engineering and changes.
  • Use cost allocation/coding for internal and external needs.
  • Measure quantities per standard methods of measurement.
  • Assist in final project accounts preparation.
  • Draft subcontracts including professional services.

Murphy is recruiting for a Managing Quantity Surveyor to join our growing team

A day in the life of a Murphy Quantity Surveyor
  • Aid in the internal commercial reporting and any other reports which may be required.
  • Prepare Valuations/Applications for Payment with full documentation in accordance with the contract
  • Control of Cost Reports to the Client with contractually compliant documentation
  • Preparation and management of subcontract and material procurement schedules
  • Administration of subcontractor/supplier accounts from the preparation of detailed requisitions, monitoring, and authorisation of subcontract payments through to agreement of final accounts
  • Undertake the contract administration, including change management and maintain associated registers.
  • Identifying commercial risks, opportunities, value engineering and change
  • Use the cost allocation/coding which satisfies both internal and external requirements.
  • Measurement of quantities in accordance with the standard methods of measurement as required.
  • Assist in the preparation of project final accounts.
  • Drafting of subcontracts including professional services.

  • Registered with RICS / ICES and working towards chartership.
