Job summary

A whiskey distillery in Kildare is seeking a Maintenance Technician to oversee maintenance activities for distillery equipment. At CHURCH OF OAK we are building an extraordinary Irish whiskey distillery, in the heart of County Kildare, Ireland. Since 2022, we have been exploring the artistry of whiskey making, with a truly exceptional approach to locally farmed grain, design and distilling, and are now in the early stages of bringing our story to a global stage. The distillery is not automated and requires the skill and attention to detail of our operations team to ensure that exceptionally high-quality standards are consistently achieved.

Reporting to the Head Distiller, the Maintenance Technician (M&E) role has the core responsibility for all aspects of the maintenance of Church of Oak Distillery equipment, maintaining site services to ensure the condition of the plant is maintained and operating to the highest standards.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure that safe working practices and quality procedures are strictly followed to ensure compliance with Irish Revenue, environmental legislation, ISO 9001, OHSAS 18001 and FEMAS requirements and to produce a safe product.
  • Responsible for all maintenance activities associated with the continued operation of all plant/equipment.
  • Execute all aspects of preventive and periodic maintenance program for all plant.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of all maintenance activities using the distillery CMMS system.
  • Maintain the compliance of ATEX certified equipment used in hazardous areas.
  • Manage third party contractor activities at the distillery including communications, bookings, site supervision and reporting.
  • Procurement of all required spare parts and consumables related to the maintenance function.
  • Review, and keep updated, all Maintenance Task Lists, SOP’s, work Instructions, and other relevant documentation to instigate the necessary changes post review.
  • Coach distillery operators in asset maintenance training, empowering them to maintain their equipment.
  • Troubleshoot, fault find and repair electrical, mechanical and automation systems as faults occur.
  • Become a key member of the Distillery Operations team, contributing to a highly collaborative, high performing team environment and culture.
Qualifications / Experience
  • Fully qualified in electrical or mechanical, with a good working knowledge of the other discipline.
  • Experience working with PLCs, VSDs and basic SCADA systems.
  • Experience working with steam boilers would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of the operation of process plant and equipment would be advantageous.
  • IT experience Microsoft Office.
  • Effective problem‑solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
Schedule

40‑hour working week, Monday – Friday.
