Job Description

Maintenance fitters are responsible for erecting, installing, and repairing both electrical and mechanical plant equipment and industrial machinery. They are responsible for fitting and assembling parts and sub-assemblies in the manufacturing of metal products. Additionally, maintenance fitters test and adjust engines to ensure they meet quality standards and function correctly.

Tasks required by this job include:

  • Reviewing drawings and specifications to determine appropriate methods and sequence of operations for manufacturing tasks.
  • Fitting and assembling parts and/or metal sub-assemblies with precision to maintain and repair equipment used in manufacturing, such as production machinery, assembly lines, and machine tools.
  • Assembling prepared parts and sub-assemblies to maintain and repair machinery used in manufacturing, ensuring they operate effectively.
  • Examining the operation of internal combustion engines and vehicles used in transportation within the manufacturing facility, and making adjustments as needed for efficient performance.
  • Erecting, installing, repairing, and servicing plant and industrial machinery specific to manufacturing operations.
